    Hi there,

Have anyone considered building simulator like FD301 but using pneumatics?
Will the x-sim software be feasible? I mean to simulate touchdown (all 3 actuators goes up or down at the same moment).

    regards, Pooh.

    Hi,

I have simulated this with a Festo program and it was impossible to get it work under load. It will either need large cylinders that need time to fill with air before the compressed air in them reach a point to be able to lift the load, or use smaller cylinders with faster reaction time but less available lifting force.

Only Hydraulics can work in such arrangement cause the oil inside the cylinders isn't compressing. But hydraulics introduce a series of other issues...

    Regards, Thanos

Just thought I'd comment on this as I've pulled apart a 301; the actuators are just long ball screws with a motorised toothed pully system down the bottom of each of the struts

Well, the actuator rod it self in is not that much exotic and is just custom build. The difference comes from the huge brushless motor in conjunction with the ethernet servo controller that are really expensive...
