Hello everybody my name is Emanuel (Manny) originally from Puerto Rico but I'm actually living in Orlando Florida. I joined the community a couple weeks ago. No long ago I was on You Tube and a come across with D-MAX (Halloween2go) series of videos DIY 2 DOF rig build, which inspired me and also took me to this community. I took time to watched his channel for a bout a week or so then I made the decision to build my 3 DOF rig. I have zero experience on electronics or welding but my brother is a welder and it is willing to teach me how to weld. also I'm not a gamer either but I love cars and speed . I personally have a lot of common-sense an a strong will and I also believe that in live if you put your head in to it, everything can be accomplish. we already made some progress with the rig I will post my progress once I figure out how to post picture taken with my phone, I have tried to upload some picture already but the since to be large to post.

Please forgive my misspelling since this is my second language

Halloween2go is a great teacher. I just got it done by watching his videos on YouTube.

Noorbeast I wanted to do the VR but I have no idea where to start. Any recommendations? I know the ovolus is the most popular but I seen the blacks and whites which one will work or doesn't matter? Please advise

There are many considerations, technical, financial and personal preference.

On the technical side there are considerations like tracking, with external outside in tracking of the likes of the Index, Vive and Pimax being more robust when it comes to motion cancellation with a motion rig. But, for small axis movement rigs, like mine, motion cancellation is not really needed. Then there are other aspects like Field Of View, where the likes of Pimax push the boundaries, with the Index being less than Pimax but more than most. Pixel fill ratio and Oled Vs LED screens all have their fans, same with refresh rates.

On the financial front the Oculus Quest gives the most bang for your buck, but at the moment requires a Facebook account, with there also being problems with FB bot auto bans.

Personally I use a Quest one with DAS mod for dev work and casual sim use, as I had it from release and no FB account is required yet, and wireless is convenient. For more serious use I have a Pimax, but it has its quirks and takes a bit of tweaking to get the best out of it.

So in short there is no easy one size fits all recommendation for VR HMDs. Depending on where you are in the world you may be able to try before you buy, via store demos, though that rarely focuses on sim related VR use.
