hello this is my first time i am making a rig so i wanted to ask some questions if there is a build or guide i can follow I am manly gonna use this rig for DCS am aiming for 360 3dof.

    an example: .

what motors i need what torque rpm etc?

and how to pass the wires without ripping them with the rotations since am aiming to play in vr also.

any additional help i would like it am still beginner at this.

First, may I suggest some further research. A 360 2dof is somewhat technologically complex to build, is comparatively expensive to build, and some would argue, myself included, somewhat limited in terms of useful motion cues based on both those deficiencies, you can use the 'Enhanced by Google' search function on the Recent page to quickly find all existing 360 projects and discussions to make up your own mind: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/find-new/posts?recent=1

@noorbeast sorry for the ping but i think i will try to build a small model for the work rather than going full building how to test with simtools if i need coins to download the plugin?

Over on the YawVR discord we are always trying to come up with new ways to handle the 360° yaw axis on the YawVR1 or YawVR2. For the 360° 2dof example video I would think at a minimum it would need a slip ring to go through the pitch axis to at least power the roll axis and maybe TV. I'd try to do everything else wireless (video and usb) I possibly could and battery powered where needed. I don't know of any slip rings that can handle Display Port, HDMI might even be a problem but no new VR headsets use HDMI so haven't bothered to look into that. Good luck if you decide to move forward on this idea.

tbh was planning to remove the tv am using vr with the setup only need to power the motors and connect my vr which should be a usb and my flight joystick to my pc without getting them ripped or pulling my pc to destruction

Which VR headset? There should soon be a much better selection of wireless VR options also.

If you think it could handle the forces you could maybe put the PC in the rig with you and only need to worry about getting power to it.

I am also not sure you won't run into tracking or motion compensation issues when going past 180° on the pitch or roll axes. Might want to test that out before you start building anything.

Edit: You can use something like VirtualHere to have wireless USB for the sticks to a pc off the rig.

my eyes are on the valve index but am making my own also for fun.

i considered putting the pc but affraid from me moving eratically during dogfights or a missile evasion would cause issue with the motherboard dont know how i would put it and make only experience 0G

The demo version of SimTools include the fully functional Live For Speed plugin, specifically for testing purposes.

See the FAQs here for code and design ideas for a model: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/build-a-working-model-to-test-your-design-ideas.216/

Then checkout this 360 degree model: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/prototype-360°-full-rotation-motion-simulator.113/

    Hi Yousef101
Seems you have big plans and lot of motivation building a sim! Thats great!
BUT have you ever used a 360degree sim? You should think about, what you really want to feel in a sim. Is it mainly big action and fun for a short session? Stepping dizzy and motion sick out off the sim? So arcade style?
Or do you want to feel really immersed and feel like really flying for hours?
In my opinion and experience with my 6DOF you defently should have heave-direction to feel the turbulence in the air or the surface of the runnway.
Also fast movements in pitch to simulate G-forces feel strange and unnatural.....
There are so many things to say, but long story short, I want to say: try to find persons with different simulators, test the simulators and find out what you really need.

    hey how are you?
I never used a 360 simulator b4 becayse where i live simulator for flying doesnt exist or very very expensive and no one i would know to own or have a way to try such sim.

am trying to find actually feel how an aircraft flys how fast it roll pitch and yaw tbh i didnt know what heave surge or sway but i searched and am planning out a design for it currently.

I was planning to use belt tensioner to simulate the g force but still dont know how to do that yet but thats my plan currently also i found this video where am planning to make the pit it self to have a movement of heave sway and surge but still dont know how machines would act during roll and pitch maneuvers currently that's my design but i will modify it for the future.

but having the chance to try one b4 building is a really good idea sadly i have no one or anywhere as far as my knowledge.
