    Hey folks,

I am thrilled to have come across this forum when I stumbled into Jyma’s video on Youtube using his 2DOF Playseat with Dirt Rally (my favorite game at this time). I love technology but this domain is fairly new since have zero soldering skills and do not have access to metal fabrication tools. I have scouted out some metal fabricators in my city and will try to keep that option to the minimal.

    What are your thoughts on

    Gear motors:
Small High Torque 12 Volt Reversible 35 RPM DC Worm Gear Motor for BBQ Drive Replacement (http://a.co/6pwzjs3)
12vdc Reversible 64 Rpm Dc Gear Motor with Metal 6mm Shaft for DIY Parts (http://a.co/duHXUYk)
Bodine 42A3BEPM-E3 is sold out in the US and would like some alternate recommendations.

    PSU:
    HP 1200W Power Supply DL580 G5 441830-001 437572-B21 (http://a.co/002eiRU)
    HP 403781-001 DL380 G5 1000W Power Supply (http://a.co/cMmovcn)
DC 12V 40A 480W Switch Power Supply Voltage Transformer for Led Strip Lights US ( http://r.ebay.com/Ic8z4r )

    Motor drives:
Pololu Jrk 12v12 USB Motor Controller with Feedback
    (https://www.pololu.com/product/1393)
Sparkfun Moto shield drive – not sure of which one that I can buy in the US and from which seller. (https://www.sparkfun.com/categories/179 )

    Gaming PC:
    What are the minimum requirements?
Not sure I found a thread of tutorial for the Games - DVD based or Steam; need some help here as well.

My wishlist of the items on Amazon is here - http://a.co/8GdAUag

I am a little anxious after reading some disclaimers about the Moto shield drivers in the FAQ section, purely based on my lack of soldering skills and electronic wiring knowledge. I am now leaning towards JRKs. What are your thoughts on this one?

Just curious if I can use this withArduino - Stepper or DC Motor Driver
    http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/OSEPP-MTD-01-/83-16560

Sample code in C is attached. This option may require some time for me to translate the code there is for the other driver to this one. I have not reviewed the code Moto Monster driver yet.

This is not the cheapest nor definitive parts list option, but is perhaps the easiest, made up of items that are known to work: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/want-to-buy.9361/#post-119228

It pays to first finalise the design, as that has significant implications for parts, like what ratio motors to get.

SimTools takes very little resources so aim for computer specs to run the games you want and any intended peripherals, like VR.

@noorbeast , Thank you! I am thinking of a design similar to Jyma's since it is compact and will require less metal fabrication that I do not have access to.

So a full frame Playseat based foot mount sim.

@Jymä used 60:1s, though I guess the 50:1s from pgsaw on the parts list I posted are likely the closest at a reasonable price.

    Hello,
If you have trouble working with steel you might consider wood too, that is what I did, you can check my build, maybe it could inspire you things.
You might try IBT 2 route too, simple or paralleled, I had one with a bad soldering preventing it from working fine on eight of them wich seems to be a better ratio than the motomonsters...
35Rpm motors might be a bit slow for a sim.
    Have a good day sir.

Cannot imagine it has been 3 years since I stopped on this project due to family commitments. I am back on this project. I now have a Playseat Evolution and Logitech G920 (with some issues) to begin on my build. I have the server PSUs and a DC motor from an old treadmill. I will post the specs on that DC motor to get expert opinion on the feasibility for the SIM build
