so after a few years of watching poeple put their rigs up and haveing a basic understanding of how they work i've bit the bullet and decided to have a go. im a complete noob when it comes to the coding/motor controller side of things but hopefullt all will go well and any spectators can tell me where im going wrong :roll.

    So for my parts list:
motors are from ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283895430976 £62.50 each.
then cheap arduino r3 and BTS7690B Motor controller.
GTOmega wheel stand and Classic seat frame and r9 seat.
U Joint from bearmach uk after seing @Hao part list, thanks for that.
probably more helpfull things that ive forgoten to add.

I'm at the point where u joint is on, and a basic floor panel is attached ready for seat and wheen stand. about to mount the motors to the wood base and thats me done for the moment. currently waiting on tie rod ends and potentiometers before i can really do too much more.

    cheers for reading :)

Some updates from today. i bought myself a welder :)
I ended up taking off the universal joint and welded it in a more supportive and sturdy way. then bolted the plate to my frame. i also welded some lever arms and tie rod end mounts. then decied to use some spare hose for my potentiometer connecters.

job for tomorrow is making my control box, i have a junction box to use as a case to keep it all tidy. a hp server PSU good for 575 watts so should be plenty as i belive the motors are 270ish each.

More done today. I had the tie rod ends delivered and attached them, only to relise i'd made the connecting rod to small and had the seat unbalanced toward the front :(
so off it all came, new holes drilled and rebalanced, more rods made up but 5cm longer, then all reatached. mounted steering wheel and pedals, re attached seat. Waiting for pots to be delivered hopefuly monday, and the motor controllers.

started work with the arduino board last night, just getting basic wiring done following someones tutorial. need to sort the power supply connecting pins to make the switch etc. its getting there faster than i thought it would, im already planning on how to redo it but with better framework for the floor and platform.

so its been a few days but ive been busy working on the rig. so ive got my control box done and everything installed so was time to test...
all was going well until one side dropped to the floor, i sheared the bolt in 3 that was keeping the shaft moving with the motor. no biggie i thought, ill just redrill the hole and put a slightly bigger screw through. got it on again, up in the air and the m12 shaft snapped in two :(. so today i redone the shafts and put a m6 bolt through to keep the shaft moving with the motor. two minites in to testing and it snapped in half again.

after looking for what others do on here when they have a holow shaft i am going to try putting as nut on each side and doing them up tight then seeing how it goes, if needed a small m3 bolt through to help keep the motor in line.

    so close yet so far

As @Nick Moxley explains "The large Nuts "pinch" the Gear box but Aren't technically enough to prevent it from Turning when loaded or something goes wrong, The Grub screws are there to help with that, I have since gone on to Also Use a codder pin on the Tightening nut as you can see in my Flex coupler picture." https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/using-chinese-actuators.7304/page-2#post-85902

When I originally used hollow shaft motors, way back when, this is how I did it: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/dx-compact-simulator.5866/page-3#post-63105

What do you mean by "trying to get simtools to open"?

When SimTools starts Game Engine and Game Manager automatically minimize to the system tray and they can be opened from there.

Grab a copy of the SimTools manager and keep it handy for reference: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/rtfm-start-with-the-official-simtools-documentation.117/

    Update time!
So I've had the rig working on and off over the weekend and this week but the flex in the wooden floor is messing with the pots. ive ordered metal to do a frame similar to norbeasts one. hopefully ill have it up and running again in no time.

in the meantime im having a problem loading plugins to game manager. theyre all still the compressed zip files, and i havent changed anything.

To install a plugin close down SimTools, go to the Windows menu and down to the SimTools entry and open the PluginUpdator, drag the plugin zip file on to the PluginUpdater which will install the plugin: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/how-to-install-plugins.310/

Sorry it’s been a while I’ve been busy. So after a complete redesign and build I’m ready to test again. I’m having a problem with one of my motors, when in smc3 it will hold the position if I push it to it but won’t push the chair up. The other side can move up and down easily. Any ideas on what could be the issue? And I’ll post some new pics soon just trying to clear up a bit

sorry, ive changed the ibt2 and still have same problem. after some research i belive its the motor stalling, im not sure why that would happen as the motors are the same and the left one works great. ill take some photos when i have a chance after work tomorrow
