From my point of view it makes the game more entertaining, in terms of being quick I think it's not

100% made me faster, lap times prove it. Also love being in the cockpit of cars I’ve never driven and just looking around and enjoying the different dashboards, and tachs. You don’t get any sense of appreciation for these kinds of details outside vr, you’re just playing a game on a pancake, but you’re in the game with vr.

I just think that I am not faster, it will be the lack of habit, as you say the times show, in terms of immersion in the game is spectacular

actually with the VR dive, I improved lap times by at least 1-2 seconds and improved the realism of the race, thanks also to the hydraulic brake that without vr I didn't always find the right braking point

Didn’t make me faster. Nothing could I don’t think. Always be average driver.
But I don’t care, could never go back to monitors.

The reason it can make you faster is that when there is no VR, you can't judge when to brake, when to accelerate, simply speaking, no VR is no longer driving.

reaction and automatism will be different in VR so i don't think you can compare cause it will depends of the person sensation who drive the car.

Faster, more alert, more involved, and also gives you a lead foot when you leave the simulator :D

definitely faster due to (I think) the immersion which seems to encourage quicker reactions

From a person who bought almost all VR available in the market.
Yes, VR makes you faster, since you can look to apex and find the right angle.
You can also have the exact drive height (Driving open wheels are amazing).

However, at least for me, playing in VR makes me tired in 1 hour playing.
This is why I decided to go be to triples.

    I have 27 X 49 X 27 setup.

    Regards

vr allows you to take a wider field of view. After passing the hairpin, we can look at the hairpin with our eyes.

I'm definitely slower in VR but I have it set up for full immersion - no speedo, RPM or minimap. Forces me to memorize the track and use the virtual instrument cluster in the car

VR is more immersive and makes me faster. The reason is being able to look farther into sharper corners and see what's coming up on track, also easier to look around and see trouble. I haven't raced triples or motion yet, so I can only compare VR to 49" ultra-widescreen.

I’ve been flying the T6 races in FS2020 and without a doubt VR makes me faster thanks to lots of extra situational awareness. Unless they go below me it’s easy to keep tabs on and hopefully avoid the other racers. I think a lot are stuck looking straight ahead and don’t even see me setting up for a pass but that makes it that much more important to see and avoid them. I’ve even been able to slide between a couple of other racers with one going high and one going low to end up inside of them leaving a pylon - all thanks to being able to really quickly look around naturally. VR, at least in my experience, is really an advantage in air racing.

And if you haven’t seen it, this Flight Chops video of the real air races is phenomenal!

I'm faster because VR allows me to see my chord points while my screen doesn't even allow mirrors.
But the real plus of VR remains immersion!
