Hello all my name is Jack, brand new to this awesome community. I have been desperately troubleshooting for the last 2 days and so far no luck, so I thought it might be time to ask the forums!

My problem is I cant seem to get game manager to connect to game engine. I have already checked that both IP's are set to 127.0.0.1 and both little green rectangles are there which is weird since when I close game manager, the green rectangle in game engine turns red. its like its working but its not..... I have installed the software on my laptop and got everything working including my fan, WOO! but im not trying to play on my laptop....

It seems after the first install and before registering simtools it works and connects but once i register I am unable to get it to reconnect.

Uninstalling and reinstalling seems to have no effect, I even deleted the license key folder in app data .

Thanks for any help you can provide!

    Cheers
    -Jack

I had to trim a lot of details out of this so it would let me post, it thought it was spam for some reason?

So I wired up a little wind simulator prototype to go with my pretty basic static racing sim, its an arduino with monster moto shield powering a 12v pc fan at the moment (going to purchase marine blowers once i get the software working.)

I am installing windows on a spare hard drive right now so i can play around and see exactly where it stops connecting, on 3rd hard drive i had that already had windows on it, I installed simtools and GM and GE connected to each other no prob, but then as soon as i installed my license key and unlocked it, it would not connect after that....
once i get windows up and running with all my drivers I am going to image to drive so i can keep rolling it back when GM and GE stop connecting....

I have tried with NET framework 4.6.1 and 4.7 my laptop is running 4.6.1 and it has yet to have any issues with simtools, so it has to be something with my desktop pc

Can you please post picture of all of your settings and advise what code is running on the Arduino.

Is Enable Dash Output checked in Game Manager?

That suggests something specific to the machine, perhaps a firewall or similar.

A game plugin other than LFS wont be in the drop down list for the demo version of SimTools, but should be in your Pro version. Again an example picture would help to show what is going on.

Yeah it seems like there is something wrong with game engine as I can connect game manager on my desk top to game engine on my laptop but not the other way around.... I was also able to run LFS GM and GE on my laptop while running game dash on my desktop and running my fan... I also tried running GM and game dash on my desktop but could not get any data in game dash... its almost like loopback connections are getting blocked....

Do you by chance have SimTools 1.3 and 2.0 installed?
    What antivirus are you running?
    Any firewalls running?
Defiantly something blocking network traffic I believe.

No just simtools 2.1 and game dash 2.0, im not running any antivirus... maybe i shouldnt say that out loud lol
just the windows firewall, but i disabled it and tried with the same results. everything runs correctly on this machine when running a fresh copy of windows, im suspecting a windows update may have killed it, I made a restore point and now im going to start adding updates and see if any of them kill it. I see you are from Portland! I grew up there! well in Beaverton....
