    Hey all,

Not related to the motion aspect of my rig so I posted in off-topic (I hope this is the right place). I have an older fitted aluminum seat in my rig. It was not fitted to me, but I fit it fairly well. However, in races longer than 30 minutes, it becomes quite uncomfortable on my spine. Have any of you made any padding for your seat? I was thinking of using a yoga mat and cutting it to fit in the seat. Thoughts? Suggestions? All are appreciated. Trying to do it on a budget.

    Thanks!
    Ryan

What brand of seat is it, Kirkey or something else?

Some memory foam would likely work better than yoga mat in terms of conforming to you.

Okay awesome. Do you know how thick people normally use for the seat? Is 0.5" enough? Or will that be too much/little?

I am only guessing but suspect you may want to look at 1" or more, depending on how close a fit your seat already offers.

I ended up going for a $10 10mm thick yoga mat. with some trimming and bending it fit into the seat pretty well. I had to double up behind my spine, but it made the hips super tight. It ended up being fairly comfortable, and since I am not moving around, the "grabbing" feeling of the yoga mat did not affect me. In addition, I used this for my pedal stop as a pad below my heels. For the heel rest it is almost perfect. Thanks for the help and ideas!
