After tweaking DiRT to be more realistic. The Escort Mk2 is a blast! Anyone tried DiRT with X-sim? I'am surely going to when my sim is up and running.

Very good! Let us know when you have something to try. The G-Forces should in theory be enough to control the sim should'nt it?

I saw that too, but where does the motion data go? Does that mean it has an interface for motion extraction? I did a quick search on google, but did not find anything.

Yes I did found nothing too.

    But I found its readme!

    [IMG]dirt_readme.txt (11.88 KB)

    On the end it says:

    • ----------------------------------------
      Advanced Features
      ----------------------------------------

If your system has a motion platform, then DiRT™ should be able to control it. This feature is completely untested beyond checking that the basic data output is correct, and as such should be used entirely at your own risk. The output format is designed to be compatible with the Live for Speed outsim motion platform format. To enable, just open the system\hardware_settings_config.xml file and edit the motion attributes:

      <motion>

enabled – Set “true” or “false” to enable or disable the motion platform
ip - The IP address of the motion platform
port - The port of the motion platform
delay - the time between data updates from the game (1/100ths second).
extradata - This should always be set to “0

    Notice the LiveForSpeed reference!!!!!!!!

Too bad I dont own DIRT yet to give it a try with the existing LFS plugin!!

Wow! Great finding! :D  I definitely will test this tonight!! (If my 8 weeks old son is letting me.... and not crying)

BTW: If you like rally I recommend DiRT. With tire grip reduced to 80%, sim-brake mod and car tuning I have a lot of great time with this game!! RBR has been played very little since DiRT.

These are the defaults that LFS plugin is using:

    IP 127.0.0.1
    Port 4123

Yes it is! I am currently searching for a program that can monitor the port 4123 to see if DiRT is sending anything at all.

Maybe it needs a second PC for the Profiler. I encountered such problems when tried to test IL2 1942 before.

And DiRT is a little heavy game that takes almost all the resources of the PC...!

    Dirt with outsim - Working!

I just managed to capture DiRT motion data!
I found out that I had edited the wrong hardware_settings_config.xml
file. The one under DiRT's install/system is for default game profiles. Another file is located under
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Codemasters\DiRT.
When I did that DiRT froze! Hmm.. back to drawing board. Since I have my own little outsim listen application I changed the port number to 20777 which was the default from DiRT installation. That made the trick!
Now we just have to make the LFS plugin have the option to change port.

I posted another post under force sender /plugin forum, since this is clearly on topic not off topic anymore. Read on from there.
