    My Motion Simulator:
3DOF, DC motor, Arduino, Motion platform
Currently we are designing a new sim racing rig/platform with 3 DOF.

The control unit is based on an arduino UNO board. Conform the following scheme but with a number of modifications.

For the 3 motion motors we do not want to use worm gear motors for their problems and have selected gear motors 24VDC LN 56.10 with a 2 stage planetary gearbox PL60C.2 ratio 1:24 or 1:36.

Each motor will have a MD13S motor driver and a meanwell LRS-350-24V power supply.

As software we have loaded the SMC3.ini (basic Motor PID driver designed for motion simulators with upto 3 motors (written for UNO R3))

Motion simulator platform with 3 dimensional movements has been designed based on preloaded ball joint just neutral underneath the seat and an advanced balance bar system at the front to ensure more stability of the upper frame for pitch and roll.

The complete frame holding the 3 motors can move by operating the 3rd motor on the lower frame. The ball bearing wheels are ensuring a very light operation for the yaw/rear traction. See sketch and pictures below.

The position of the motors is being controlled by Non-Contacting Hall Effect Single Turn Position Sensors (potmeters) from the TT Electronics series 6120.

The wooden blocs underneath the lower frame will be replaced by silent blocs to reduce the noise transmission to the floor.

Before ordering the 3 expensive motors with the planetary gearboxes we want to test the control unit.
