If you of use Dc motors instead actuators, how do you control them? Do you have to program a microcontroler so the x sim program and the motors can communicate to each other? Just trying to figure out the best approch to building a simulator, actuators or motors?

I you do not use an intelligent actuator, then you will need a motor controller of some sort. There doesn't really seem to be any adequate comercial options at a reasonable price. Chech out what other of done here in the Wiki:http://www.x-simulator.de/wiki/Community_Projects and by searching in these forums. There is alot of good information here.
