I decided to move my arm mounting points further up behind my shoulders. I disconnected my hall sensors and motors but forgot to disconnect the pedals (G27 pedals removed from housing, so metal on metal contact with the sim frame).

I now have a permanent (well not quite, it does go yellow sometimes and when it does I can play for hours) red light on the JRK when power is connected. I tested continuity through the pedal frame to the pot wires and to the USB housing on the JRK (both pedals and JRK were still connected to the computer via USB when I was welding and there is indeed a path from frame to USB housings.

Am I safe in assuming that it was my negligence here that killed the JRK and there is nothing else sinister going on? I have tested for shorts on motor wires and on the hall sensor wires and found nothing. The working JRK will operate the motor and pot on the non working side of the sim no problem.

So, just order another JRK and learn from my mistake? Or is there an easy to replace component on the JRK that might have blown I could try replacing (like a cap?), I'm not capable replacing the chips or surface mount stuff.

Not much to fix if you cant replace the main surface mount motor driver chip or the Voltage regulators. Are any of the chips burnt looking or Obvious signs of damage ?

    Yeah an arc welder.
I've ordered another controller, but am in contact with pololu to see if they have any ideas. I need a third for traction loss anyway.

darn Should have hit them up before ordering the replacement, Pololu is pretty good at offering 50% off when things like this happen. Ya could be your fault, but they still might offer it. You never know.
