D-BOX vs Qubic System vs PT Actuators v RS MEGA+: what makes the prices so different? All are based on a 4 post actuator set up, but what makes one better than the other?

Can I suggest ditching the question of 'better' and instead suggest 'difference'.

Each is a different aspect of the same design approach, D-Box is a long standing and pretty expensive commercial offering locked into their control software, while PT Actuators and Mega+ are commercial offerings utilising the @Thanos AMC-AASD15A controller, which is open to a number of control software options, giving the user some choice, control and flexibility, depending on what their own primary goals are.

Ok, for example, lets compare RS MEGA+ – eRacing-Lab which is $1980 and based of SFX 150 and Scorpion S (Super)_Xuzhou PuTuo Machinery Technology Co.,Ltd_电动缸_普拓机械_徐州普拓机械科技有限公司 (pt-actuator.com) which is $6499. The main difference seems to be the actuator rather than the drivers, controller which are the same. Given the difference in spec between the actuators, what would a person actually experience?

The RS+ cost $2,350.00 with the AMC controller. And if not wrong it has same cheap quality leadscrew as normal SFX100...

The PT-Actuator includes in its price the AMC controller + metal enclosure box for the servo drives + actuator mounts. And not forget the advanced engineering quality of the actuators to make them smooth and silent ....

We had a big commercial customer recently (300 units contract), that ditched D-box in favor of PT, they said its not only the price but the abilities and endurance of the scorpion actuators that pushed them to that change (apart the ease of integration of the control system to their custom software).

The PT scorpion actuators actually have multi point contact slider/anti-rotation system, for minimal backlash and less friction, allowing even larger loads. See the internal shape of its cylinder:
