As you probably now, the High-Res Oculus rift is coming:) The current resolution is too low imho.

Which game is that, iracing or c.a.r.s?

    Hi RaceRay,
I think it's LFS - he mentioned it in thea vid. His review that the res was way too low - but he was very pleased and optomistic for the future versions.
When they get it "right", should be a winner.
    Have a blessed one.
    Tom

Than its a extrem modded version as the original uses other HUD elements. I also do not know the track as part of the LFS package...but who knows whats currently in it. Its a long time ago i played it last:)

I do not agree at all with his assessment of TrackIR though. Once you are used to it, and like the Oculus you have to get used to it, it is very intuitive. Unlike the Oculus you only have to turn your head a small amount to get side views, etc. And of course your eyes are not trapped when you want to adjust the volume knob :D

To get rid of the head shake that most people complain about you merely create a profile with a large dead zone in the center.

I agree with the low resolution issue, as i owned the oculus rift for a week or so. But:
The integrated head tracker and the effect of immersion due to the different visible angles is the best i ever experienced before. I will definately buy the full HD version of the Oculus Rift when it comes out.
A very good argument against the rift, indeed:grin

I am not arguing against Rift ownership at all. I might even buy one myself. But I did not think it fair to draw negative conclusions about head tracking in general based on use of the Rift.

Yes, I do use TrackIR although I have also built many Freetrack system (IR LEDs and webcams). I found that one is actually as good as the other. TrackIR is slightly more stable but that depends on which webcam you are trying to use with Freetrack.

There is also a group developing a face recognition software which will do that same thing as the IR tracking. It tracks the shape of your face. FaceTrackNOIR is the software. It is not as stable yet as the others but is coming along nicely. Just uses a simple webcam without alteration.

The DelanClip is just a holder for IR LEDs, almost a direct copy of the ProClip sold by TrackIR and does the same thing. I have built a few of them myself for use with Freetrack.

Very interesting that this guy is able to sell them for such a good price. But why not, it looks very robust and of good quality. That should be honored.
Thanks for bringing some lights into it @Historiker
