I have just installed my actuators on to my rig after a decent test.. Everything was going fine until my Fanatec CSW wheel started lagging.. controls freezing for a split second. Tried various ports on a pcie card/motherboard and front ports but have had no success.. If i stop Simtools and keep it connected and powered on, but not running. My wheel works fine but as soon as i activate motion again, my wheel freezes..

Help its been a bit of a slog getting to this stage..

    Would EMI cause this?

That would be my first guess.

The other could be USB bandwidth issues, as onboard usb ports share controllers.

I just find it strange that when everything is on and Simtools is not connected, everything is fine..

Those are the circumstance I would expect potential EMI and USB issues would be least, it is in use and under load that those 2 potential issues would be most prominent.

Just leave Simtools running with your actuator AC power off, should help you isolate the issue as either USB or AC EMI.

Ok i seperated all the power and data cables, and it really helped. Steering seems to be good now but i tried using my Steam Index. As soon as the motors get power, it greys out and comes back when you power off the motors.. My next question is.. do i need the DB25s shielded too or just the power??

It does sound like you have found your culprit and shielding is likely needed.

According to @Thanos the DB25 male-male straight Molded cables have proper shielding that is much needed to deal with any EMI noise from the servo drive. Is that what you are using, or some sort of custom cables? If the latter then you would need shielded cables

For your index you need to get and use this ferrite on the hdmi cable...

The RGB screen is present on AMC-AASD15A v1.4 boards, is that what you have?

With firmware v2.11 fix5 you just need to set Dip switches #1 and #2 to ON position to enable the color changes on the RGB display.

The latest firmware is located here:

    Thanks

Maybe you have the v1.3 that came either with black background yellow characters LCD or Blue background and white characters...

RGB screen was introduced recently on v1.4 boards with the RJ45 connector on the back...

Take a photo of your board to see the markings on it.
