    Hi !

To get a better immersion when I 'm in my simulator, I would make it as the exact size of a car that I like : ferrari 599 gto .

So I need to know the dimensions of the cockpit : seat to pedals ; seat height ; wheel position ...

I did not find anything on the internet so I turn to you :thumbs

Nice idea, but how do you plan to move a frame/sim that big?
How deep are your pockets for money?
And I am not sure if anyone here has those dimensions at hand.

A bit of a left field idea, and I am not sure if it would work, but one way to perhaps accurately figure the dimensions out would be to make a 3D model from photographs and them accurately measure the model in a CAD program: http://insight3d.sourceforge.net/

I guess it depends how desperate you are to explore all possibilities for the sake of authenticity. An upside of an accurate 3D model is that you could then 3D print the fiddly bits of the cockpit.

Bit of a tedious way to find out would be to get a really HD photo of the cockpit and work to the scale of the Ferarri badge. The wheel badges are always made to fit a 2 inch hole and the badges average out at 2.322 inches, which equates to about 59/60mm.

    Good Luck!

Hello ! thanks for your answers, and sorry, in advanced, for my bad english...

Sadly my pocket arn't deep, so i would do my project in multistage.

1 - As i play with an oculus rift, the firt thing i wanna do is having the reel dimension for wheel, seat and pedals position. Just to feel like i am in a reel car. (without seat quality...:()

2 - If one day i have enough money, i would make my simulator beautiful. So this stage consist to build the cockpit around my current simulator.

Thanks @noorbeast and @Archie for your idea. I'll try to find the dimension i need with your solution.

as you use a rift, it becomes the inside of the car, if the game supports it anyway. And as for "best for me" sim set up, a basic 2 DOF seat mover would be the cheaper and simpler to set up.

Yes, my rift is the inside, and wow, it's spectacular !! i love it ! "I have" (in construction) a 2 dof seat mover that i made with racingmat tutorial. I think it's a good things to start :)
