I'm going to build a G-seat so I can drastically reduce the motion cues on my 6DOF (except for heave, I want big heave!) and with that I'm seriously considering switching to Quest with the tether to eliminate the need for motion compensation.

If the angles of the 6DOF are small, there will be no problem there, and if I can get completely reliable positional head tracking from the Quest via an enclosure I should be good to go!

The only problem is based on the Rift CV1 issues the Oculus SDK might get all upset about the fact that the IMU's are sensing movements that the tracking cameras aren't seeing and that could cause drifting and/or jumps in the HMD tracking as it did with my CV1.

So, has anyone tried using a Rift S inside an enclosed 6DOF sim with fairly big translations and typical angular motion? A cardboard fridge box enclosure could do for the test. I suspect I'm going to have to find out for myself but I'd sure love to know now rather than have to wait for the Quest Tether. I want to make sure I'm within the return period when I test it all out and decide if it's good enough so I can't buy it yet.
