i seem to think with the bikes they should work from a pressure sensor for leaning and then the throtle to gain the lift does that sound about right

With a bike you have a lot of factors to think about, especially with a motion sim.
General controls are leaning to the left and right and obviously throttle and brake. So basically, as a car would be with a steering wheel, turn left, turn right, and accelerate and brake. So if you can imagine a steering wheel (potentiometer) at the bottom of the wheel and as you lean, it turns it.

In my sim I would plan to have a motor to lift and lower the front, a motor to lift and lower the back and traction loss as well. Most of the engineering and complicated stuff would go into the pivot point of the bike which is basically the bottom of the wheels. It'll have to almost return to center like a real bike when it wants to stand up again. So either very fast, and powerful motors, or some sort of gyroscope which would be pretty cool but a bit harder to control. The other option is a system of springs and dampers, a bit like a dual mass flywheel.

I've been scribbling and drawing ideas for about a year while also trying to build the car part of my sim. There's a lot of stuff going on in a bike sim to think about, especially to make it fast and realistic.

thing is the bike ain't easy to do as you steer left to go right and right to go left and use the weight aswell with throttle to hold the bike.
but i still think they need a weight control for the leaning ie (the more body pressure the more it will lean over linked with throttle.
it could start at handle bars for first pressure point to inicate how hard you chuck the bike in.
also then you would have weight as you lean over so activates the next pressure system.
it then balences with power and weight transfer.
a bike will want to stand up on throttle so combine with the weight and i think i can be real feel.

but thats what talking baout can bring i guess.

i also think there should not be a picture of the bike on the screen and run a monitor with road lower to give the feeling of road under your bike so prob 4 screens 2 top 2 bottom for your leaning. prob sort of either side of the bike. if you can get my drift my thinking.

Ideally it's suited to a VR headset because a biker is more likely to be looking out to the side at the apex coming in and the exit coming out of a corner, as well as checking for other bikes at the sides.

I think a pressure sensor may be very hard to calibrate correctly, especially as you would have people of different weights on the bike.
The person to ask about this is @AlBuw as he's already built them.

I'll go for the HTC Vive when it comes out and the price drops a little. It's been the big talking point in VR for the last couple of months.

i think we are all waiting to see where the VR takes us, game developers n graphics will be the strong point on how good it can take off.
either way they will all milk it to make money.

[QUOTE="noorbeast, post: 91724, member: 10786" is not that the Rift is fixed, according to the comments by the guy who made the video he was just too focused on not crashing and did not bother to look around as you normally would...pity that: https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/3r1c7f/gp_bikes_ride_a_super_bike_in_virtual_reality/[/QUOTE]
how can you keep head so still tho would be awesome if can see it like you would ride it :) thanks for the link will have a butchers tomoz and read that lot.

I have to agree, showing off VR is all about looking around in a natural manner, it is one of the things hat is just so different from a monitor. Ironically, the guy who made the video, Game Hard 4.0, is pretty well known for his VR Youtube videos so I am not sure why this one looks so wooden.
