    IL-2 is a classic, the modding community has kept it pretty up to date for years.

    There is actually a more modern sequel called "IL-2 Cliffs of Dover" but it was not well received; far too many bugs in the code. But lately Cliffs of Dover to has been given over to the modding community and most if not all of the bugs have been fixed. Cliffs is much more of a "full switch" game than the original, with some seriously nice graphics.

    Reminds me a little bit on GRAND PRIX LEGENDS by Papyrus. The game was successful only when the community did the mods for it.

    Prilad just released a plug-in for Simtools v3 for IL-2. He has it working very well, I unfortunately cannot get it to work at all :(

    If you patch the game up to 4.11.1 you will really be inpressed. The modding community has outdone itself with updates to this venerable game.

    The video above is very old and does not at all showcase the advances made since then.

    Rene, that is exactly right. It is unfortunate that game developers and publishers often go for the short term profit rather than the long term.
