    Hi,
I want to buy the missing Stuff for my Project, are These Things correct?

    The Power Supply
    Mean Well S 100 F
in the SCN5 Hardware Thread it is recommned by some Members.
What about the SP 100 ? It has only 4,2 Amp, what will This mean :
    Built-in active PFC function, PF>0.93
    http://www.proconnecting.de/media/produ ... 297159.pdf

What USB to RS 485 Converter to buy ?
I have read the related Thread but most of Ebay Links are dead.
    What is the final Standing?
Buy the cheap one on Ebay: PC USB auf RS232/RS485/TTL-UART Konverter-Adapter NEU sold by virtualvillage.de
    http://cgi.ebay.de/PC-USB-auf-RS232-RS4 ... 1|294%3A50
or the expansive one from devantech
I don´t want to slow down the SCN5 by cheap stuff and it has to be auto mode.

    What length of Cable ?
USB 1,5m and short cable to SCN5?
    has this any effect?

Where to get the SCN5 Plugs?
Digikey wants 18 Euros Shipping!!!! Item cost are 0,75 Euro/each
    is there any other source?
What width of Cable 1,5mm² is enough? This one I have in stock

    Best regards
    Kai
    What I bought until now!
    Is something missing?

First let me say welcome to the X-Sim community.

The power supply that you mentioned appears to be adequate. I recommend you allow yourself 2amps per actuator.

The USB<-->RS485 adapter that you linked to has proven to be quite stable and an adequate performer IMHO.

    Hello Bernard,
thank you very much for your quick answer.
I have bought the Power supply right now, 4,5 amp will be enough for both actuators.
I will order the converters soon.
What about cable lenght, doesn`t matter this to function?

    BTW
this are the correct Joints for the SCN5 Rod end
    SKF Part Nr.: SIKB 10 F /VZ 019 with Pitch M10X1,25
but be aware they are very Expensive Listing Price is arround 45 € but I get them for less than the half !
You have to deal hard with your Local Dealer.
The other one on the Pic is with M10x1,5 standart pitch, for my bottom end. I use 30mm Bosch profiles where I can cut the Pitch in the middle hole.

    Regards
    Kai

    Hi Kai,

cheaper would it been that to buy default ball joints with M8 and than cut the needed fine pitch winding as Ego suggested one time.

I use a cable length from converter to scn5 round about 4m and got no stability problems.
I use the Hexin converters but your mentiones cheap ones should be as well.

1,5mm² cable is goog enough for the converters as well as for the psu.

    Hi Rene,

In my opinion thats not so good for stability reasons to cut the fine pitch in normal pitch.
With every turn you cut the old pitch away, after 6 turns there is nothing left. 6x 0,25 = 1,5mm.
You need another 6 Turns to get another full Thread Turn.

You can´t turn the joint 12 Turns on the Rod ,so you only have one Full Pitch and 5 Pitches who become smaller and smaller.
Even if you use a counternut you won´t have the full strenght.

It´s hard for me to explain these technical Things in english, but I hope it becomes clear what I mean.

    Best regards
    Kai

    Hi,

so I bought the Power supply and the converters !
Adapters for the Cardanjoint are on the way !

One problem left: The connectors for the SCN5

Is there anybody who wants to buy actuators and needs some Connectors too?
So I would buy some more and we can share the shipping costs.

Another question : What lenght of the actuator is recommended?
Most Simulators work with the 100mm version?
Is there any advantage to the 150mm version?

Sorry for the bunch of questions but I won`t buy incorrect parts.

    Best regards
    Kai

I have tested with both 100mm and 150mm actuators. There is a definite advantage to the 150mm actuators if you weigh less than 220lbs. If you weigh more than that, then I suggest the 100mm actuators because they will not move your weight as far off of the center of the pivot point, which creates less actuator strain.

    Hallo Bernard,

Am I right, with the 150mm you beacame more motion and a better realistic feeling?
But the strain will increase with the weigh you move out of balance?

I have to choose the 100mm cause my platform has 37 kg and I have 76............

OK I will take a look for the $ currancy and ask my Finance CEO before I place an order at Mirai.

    Thank you for your patience
    Best regards
    Kai

That is correct. The 150mm produce a more realistic feeling. However, they are able to lean your body weight further away from the center of the pivot point, which causes increased load. Therefore, I recommend no more than a 220lbs occupant.
