My custom built 6DOF platform based on the DOF Reality platform H6 Platform is for sale.

The gearboxes, spine, pedal plate, wheel hoop and hex frame are genuine DOF Reality units taken from a couple of users friends that upgraded from an H3 to a H6 and then from an H6 standard gearbox to SFU gearboxes. The motors were sourced from the same source (in China) as DOF Reality uses and are the same models they used in the older H6.

Lets do the "does not include" to get that out of the way to save you getting excited.

Does not include:

• Seat or Seat Mount Rails (except Cross Rails)
• Any peripherals or controllers

Now that's out the way, if you're still interested then read on!

There are some original DOF Reality parts on which this build was based:

• The Gearboxes
• The Sensor Mounts
• The Hexagonal Frame
• The Frame Spine
• The Controller Hoop & Wheel/Yoke Platform
• The Pedal Plate
• The Shifter/Joystick Arm
• The Seat Support Arms

The pedal plate has been customised with threaded inserts for a custom pedal plate (similar to Heusinkveld) , Fanatec Clubsport pedals & Thrustmaster T.Flight Rudder pedals for quicker swaps. I'll include the two USB leads & two power leads for the controller.

What has been custom added to make the full H6 are

• The tri-arm cradle (stainless steel) with welded threaded stubs
• The 6 actuator arms with threaded rose joints ends made from steel tube
• 3 pre-loaded gas struts with custom mounts
• Throttle/handbrake arm with removable mini keypad plate
• Centre Stick Raised Mount Plate for Warthog Stick
• Carbon position sensors (Same part as used on DOF Reality)
• Motor cabling and Connectors
• Internal Controller Wiring

The Custom controller box has been built based on the exact same electronic components as the DOF Reality system except it is packaged into one unit and has custom connectivity to simplify. The unit is built into an old audio amplifier case and uses the old heatsink out of that for the motor drivers.

It's all a bit on the rough side and although works, it could do with some finessing to complete it although it works fine.

The controllers inside the unit have firmware and control software and can be used with Sim Racing Studio software as a 6 DOF motion simulator. A license code to use SRS will be included with the rig as I won't be using motion anymore.

I'd recommend that whoever buys this has a good knowledge of simulators and building them and is looking to take it to the next level from a 2DOF or 3DOF build but at a fraction of the retail price.

As an idea of expectations for cost and the resale value, the motors and gearboxes normally go for around £250 each and are hard to get in the UK with the correct specifications. The potentiometers are £20 each if they ever have any in stock, the power supplies cost around £75 each (x6), the motor drivers are pretty cost effective per unit but hard to get in the UK for anywhere near their retail as they come from Malaysia. Those plus the Arduinos and the interface boards and the special diodes for the power supplies add another £250.

H6 from DOF Reality retail for £5,500. On top of that you need to pay shipping and import duty so you're looking at another £1,000 for that.

Buyer collects for obvious reasons but it does break down into parts that you could fit in a half decent estate car or largish hatchback.
