    Hi there,

I am just wondering what the minimum cost is of building a 6DOF Flight Motion Simulator.

I am based in Australia, so I would really appreciate it if you could specify currency, I am guessing most of the time we talk in USD around here.

What motors would be used in such a low cost system?

    Thanks in advance.

    My Motion Simulator:
    3DOF, DC motor, JRK
Budget wise @SilentChill manage to score the motors for his 6DOF for free and then built about the most cost effective Stewart rig using timber frames, Arduinos, Motor Monsters, budget PSUs and some recycled gear from his original rig: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/6dof-project-using-12v-dc-motors-mms-and-arduinos.6948/

An actual dollar value depends on what you choose and how much you shop around. You can get motors in Australia from Motion Dynamics, you can use genuine or cheaper clone Arduinos and MMs, you could use basic ceramic pots or more expensive but easier to mount and more robust Hall sensors. You can peruse Ebay for PSUs, pot couplings and the like. But by the time you multiply by 6 it will be a significant amount, say AU $2000-$3000 minimum, unless you have @SilentChill's good fortune to pick up motors for nothing.
