I have been reading the 6dof builds. It seems that some start out with motor/gearbox and then switch to DIY actuators.
I got a lead on 6 matched wheelchair motors 350watt cont /1000watt intermittent.
Is it even worth the experimenting with motors?
I was thinking I could maybe repurpose the 24vdc motors and upgrade to diy actuators..
And since I got you here. what is the deal with using carbon fiber output tubes vs say chromoly or aluminum tubes??

Maybe @Grigory can help you with the decision between actuators and gear motors, because he made a full circle from gear motors to actuators and back to gear motors.
