    Hi all!

Thomas, 27 years old, new on this forum, from France ( sorry for my bad english)

Here is a little presentation of my 6 dof project.

3d modelisation is almost end, and I have allready made two prototype of linear actuator last years...

the first had many design defect and was a little shit but the second worked almost fine

    the first:

    the second:

now I am currently building 6 new actuator, that are almost end, and frame and cockpit building will start soon.

    here is some spec:

-6x 400w ac servo motor powered by 6x ioni pro HC drive.
    -actuator force 60kg (135kg peak) and 625mm/s , 420mm stroke.
-aluminium cockpit, suspended mass 135kg ( include 80kg driver, OSW, pedals, triple screen and seat)
-in static position each actuator load is 30kg ( 50% of the nominal force and 22% of the max force)
-zero play, all actuator have precharged bearing and transmission system that ensure me to have absolutely zero play, same for the DIY cardan join articulation

here are some picture of 3d and already realised work:

Really great actuators!!! Especially like your joints!
Do you know, how much one of it costs?

And why don't you just use some VR-glasses, instead of 3 monitors?

    Hi,
thanks you, actuator cost me around 350€ of material, without motor. but many many hours of work.

about monitor, as you can see on picture it can be unmounted, I will start with monitor because for the time I think VR resolution is not high enough. when it will be good enough I will play with VR. ( and win about 20kg of weigh

do you think you will be able to sell parts so we can build your actuator ?

Wow, the amount of machine time that is going into this build is impressive and would cost a small fourtune if not doing it yourself.

Do you have a tally of the hours spent so far?

Good luck with the rest of it but it looks like you have to skills to not need it!

this build is for me, but if it work well and are reliable, maybe I will sell actuator kit, reliability is the most important thing and will determine if I could sell it or not. I have no doubt about performance.
but when I look at te time to make it, I'm not sure the price will not be too high. It's not really design to cost. ballscrew system will be beter for cost.

I did not count the spent time, I started to build actuator this summer, but not spent 100% of free time on it.

You could lift the Titanic with those things. Beautiful engineering!

I wish there were some affordable strong actuators I could buy.

thanks you, but my actuator are not so strong, only 60kg nominal, and 135kg peak. ;)

My guess is that there are too many and they are too big.

You should also insert them as a thumbnail in a post, not a full size image, as otherwise the whole page will time out for anyone on a slow net connection: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/upload-pictures-or-files.81/

Better to upload them here, rather than rely on an external site, then insert the pictures as thumbnails: : https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/upload-pictures-or-files.81/
