    Hello,
I am working on a 3DOF flight simulator project. I want to use Simtools and Arduino. I found the SMC3 script but I don't know what it does exactly and what changes should I make to make it work in my case. I'm planning to work with the MODE1 (MonsterMoto Shield).
I also have a problem with the pots. I don't understand why do I have to use them and how.
Can you help me with that please? I really need help.

    Hi @Kenza

I invite you to spend when you can to introduce yourself in the forum, so we will know you a little better.
    https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/are-you-a-new-member-introduce-here.1737/

If you do not know what the SMC3 is exactly for and what the potentiometers are, I think you should read a little more and understand a little better how that system works.
If you master English, you will have it very easy.

So roughly, the system goes like this.

    PC
    SimTools
    Arduino
    Motomonster
    Motors

The SMC3 is the code to be loaded in Arduino that will control the Motomonster with the information it receives from SimTools and the potentiometers are attached to the output shaft of the motor to give information to the motomonster of the motor position.

    I hope I've helped.
    Greetings.

Doing some research and planning is time well spent, and the community here can help you understand the basics, help you formulate your ideas about what you want to build, and even where you can source parts from.

Have a look at existing member builds, that may help you refine your own project: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

You will find plenty to get you started in the FAQs, from design software, dimension of sims, to PSUs, pots, motors, JRKs, Arduinos and Motor Monsters and more: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

We have a glossary for all those acronyms we tend to use, which will help you decipher some descriptions: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/glossary-of-acronyms-and-names.66/

The Glossary will give basic definition for things like Pots and Hall Sensors, you can use either (I use Hall Sensors) but what they both do is let the control board know the position of the motor at any given time.

The SMC3 code is a good choice and has detailed instructions: https://www.xsimulator.net/communit...3dof-motor-driver-and-windows-utilities.4957/

The SMC3 code has a handy app to hep with doing things like PID settings, and you can look up PID in the Glossary and the FAQs: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/a-laymans-analogy-guide-to-pids-pid-tuning.219/

When you are ready please start your own project thread here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

Feel free to ask questions, the members here give freely of both their time and expertise.

    Good luck with your project.

Thank you so muck for your reply, I will introduce myself soon I promise. I did my research I only have a problem in the control part as I’m not that good when it comes to arduino and programming. So I was hoping to get help especially with the SMC3 code, I noticed that it needs to be modified.. I don’t know what to change in it.
For the pot issue I asked because I’m planning to work with servomotors. Do I still need to use pots?

I'm working with these motors https://www.alibaba.com/product-det...spm=a2700.details.maylikeexp.1.42cd6aecbJG194
That's why I was asking about the pots..
    Q1 : Should I use Pots?
Q2 : Is it possible to use SMC3 code with these motors ?
Q3 : These motors come with this 3-in-1 servo drive (see picture), What should I use for the control part ? does it still the same (An Arduino UNO card + 2 monster moto shields) ?????
I'm waiting for your answers !
