    Hi all,

After lurking on this forum I managed to build a 2DOF over the past few weeks with some 250W 24VDC Jazzy wheelchair motors off ebay. Using IBT-2 motor controllers and 350W Meanwell power supplies off Amazon. Also using some rotary hall sensors from China for the feedback.

So I connected everything up and I was able to achieve motion with SMC3 and Simtools. But the problem is once I start up a test drive in the LFS demo, I can only get about halfway down the first straightaway before my right motor shuts down.

Since I am using two power supplies, I swapped those around. I also tried switching the IBT-2 controllers around. Both times the right motor still fails after about 10 seconds into a drive with me in the seat (I'm 130lbs if that helps). Here are the SMC3 and simtools settings I have right now. I am running at 35% intensity level. SMC3.png sim tools 1.png sim tools 2.png

Here's a picture of the rig in its current state. Does anyone have any tips to troubleshoot? Are the motors simply too small to move this, or is there something that can be tweaked in the settings?

I suspect your SMC3 settings likely need refining: https://www.xsimulator.net/communit...driver-and-windows-utilities.4957/#post-48121

While written with JRKs in mind here is a gentle introduction to PID: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/a-laymans-analogy-guide-to-pids-pid-tuning.219/

you also need to adjust your Axis Assignment % to bring down the overall total, see here: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/axis-assignment-percentage-totals.120/

Thanks Noorbeast. I'm still messing with the settings but I have a feeling I need to rebalance the seat. I realized I initially balanced the seat without the pedals as they were a bit of an afterthought when building the structure.

Removing those for now allows the seat to sit upright without assistance from the motors which seems to help out a lot when they need to pitch the seat up and down.

Good to know on the axis assignment % as well. Did not know that! I will keep tinkering.
