I ran across this video over the weekend while doing some YouTube surfing and felt it's worth sharing here. The spider in the video can be yours for $2950 usd. The body is made with a 3d printer which apparently is quite expensive. However a new model is now available for pre-order that is the same spider but uses injection molded parts for $499. After the pre-order period the unit will run $749. Here's a short write up on it,

"T8 is a wirelessly controlled bio-inspired octopod robot made with high resolution 3D printed parts. It uses a total of 26 motors: 3 in each leg and 2 in the abdomen. It is powered by the Bigfoot™ Inverse Kinematics Engine which performs all of the necessary calculations for smoothly controlling the motions of the robot in real time."

I think its very impressive what has been accomplished. What do you think? Do you think the Bigfoot™ Inverse Kinematics Engine utilizes PID control?
