First of all I would like to mention that it's not my intention to make mischief and hope people won't see me as a scapegoat, but I hope someone can shed some light on this subject.

I was wondering what went wrong and what is the reason why there are 2 X-sim sites at the moment?

It's not only confusing (especially for new users I reckon), but a lot of knowledge about X-Sim get's scattered this way.

Once again, it's not my intention to to antagonize anyone but to me it seems it would be best to have one site instead of 2 and reckon I'm not only one thinking that way.

I don't see something wrong. Its just evolution. And as new software was introduced there had to be a way to split the old community from the new (x-sim3).

The main reason is that a new user database is needed for the login part of x-sim3 as well to be able to provide stages of access to features depending of the contribution of the users. And all we need is users to contribute not just be spoon fed all the time.

Not to mention that the old community is overwhelmed with industrial spies that lurking around for a change to take advantage of anything good.

The rule is simple: contribute and you shall receive!

    Regards,
    Thanos

I didn't say anything was wrong and it's great to see X-sim evolve and user contribution being rewarded. Just wanted some light shed on the subject.

The confusing part is that all of a sudden a post was made mentioning x-sim downloads have moved without any explanation regarding why (as well in the post as on the new site).

A problem occurring due to the lack of an explanation and both sites remaining active is that most users keep posting on this site instead of the new one. Whilst I reckon the goal is to lure the active members to the new site.

All in all I think a strategy has to be chosen to get the active/contributing members to hop over to the new site and maybe phase out the old one.

offtopic (sort of ontopic as well though):

yes I know, I'm one of those people as well!
Why? Due to two reasons already mentioned on the new forum:

    • IMHO the projects part of the site is confusing, cluttered and lacks notifications and at this moment my project is the only way for me to contribute because I have no experience with the software yet. Unfortunatelly I can't help with the development of it because I have no PHPbb knowledge.
    • I do a lot of browsing on my mobile (android) phone and the site just doesn't work propperly on android. I tried to fix this but unfortunatelly didn't succeed in that. I am a graphic designer with some php/html knowledge but not enough (if I can help out with graphic design stuff feel free to let me know!)

Both of these reasons come down to one conclusion/question: Is there an active and willing member with enough php/html knowledge to help develope the new site? Sirnoname and Warandpeace are doing a great job but reckon all help is welcome!

Been on here for ages and have seen mention of X-Sim 3 but hadn't realised that another site was setup for this.

With regard to any lurking 'industrial spies' wont they be reading exactly the same postings as us and then become aware of the new site ??

The new site is not secret... was been announced for months now.

Although in the new site users have the option to keep their projects closed only to members or to selected friends or just hide it from some foes etc...

It is confusing indeed, but if you have to choose one of them, choose X-sim 3 because that's where the future of the software lies!

Plain and simple: Every post here and not on the new site reduces the chance that X-sim development will be continued <- should make the choice a lot easier! :sos:
