The holding torque of that motor would have to be 2 x weight of inner rig + person, surely?

    Say conservative 100kg x 2 = 200kg?

Wouldn't work for motor racing, I don't think, no dynamic translation movement, all radial.

Very cool looking and I'd build one in a heart beat but I think the motors, as Dave says, would cost a bomb.

The duty cycle of the motor looks like ~80% too.

not just the motors, the whole damn thing expensive.
A friend of mine wanted a rough quote for one, I suggested upwards of $10k.
Once he picked himself and came out of his coma, he said thanks and wandered off.

The comment was actually in reply to the OP, and tongue in cheek ;) As we both live in Michigan. But if I could afford it Dave, I would come over to your house as well 8)

I witnessed the build of this device , I can confirm they spent nearly 20k in production and the feeling is not that great when upside down you need to hold yourself in tight as in gravity is a bitch.
But a very nice concept. This is running a modified version of xsim3 that they had to pay big dollars to sir to change for them.
