I have spent several months looking over all the builds of type I want to construct. I am a DCS and Falcon2 user . I wish to build a small footprint like noorbeast utilising universal joint mount . Motor selection I have played around with and decided using steppers to start. I have studied all types on show on forums , pros and cons for each. Lots of experience with steppers as I build CNC routers and convert medium size Mills and Lathes to CNC. Ball screws I assemble myself as I buy the ball screw rod blank without end machining and finish myself. I am machining uni joint which will have bearings in mount so it can rotate if yaw is wanted. uni joint.jpg Actuator1.jpg 1610.jpg uni joint.jpg

More progress on rig today ,cut and fitted brackets for motor mount cross beam and machined bits for universal mount. Mount will be able to rotate in bearing block which I found in my bits from a mill spindle I converted to cnc a while ago . Just need to weld uni bit to shaft. This will enable me to add third motor for rudder yaw. 306268641_3269324433305022_2420028074038311062_n.jpg 306302079_464876458910912_1925663186194693446_n.jpg 306310134_2178200109028252_5817533519090769265_n.jpg 306379420_563285105484118_1397422045266282112_n.jpg

Motors are fitted and ready to test . I am going to plug it into the Masso controller on my CNC mill tomorrow and do a motion check .I will then build a control box and start to get my head around Sim Tools. I am going to use Lebios stepper code for the Arduino 1.jpeg

Hi grog51, nice aluminum frame, looks sturdy.
I am going to use 40x40 profiles but I guess some reinforcements will be necessary.
What interface software are you using?

The frame is just a variation on the designed I use to build base for CNC routers so is very sturdy(see picture) . The closed loop stepper motors mount a similar lever rotating ball nut as DOF Reality . Full travel of rig is achieved in four rotations of stepper motors. The code to drive unit was written by a friend who is a software developer and coder using an Arduino UNO as interface. Motion and axis movement works fine with simtools running LFS in motion testing, just have not got game outputs from sim tools to move rig when driving the game. 1.jpg

I'm going to use MSFS and would like to test my still virtual rig in SketchUp as soon it's ready.
I was wondering if you are going to use Simtools or else as an interface

I am using Sim Tools ,I purchased the DIY version . I play DCS and elite Dangerous and they are what I want to interface with Sim Tools.
