Think i have got the bug. What to do with my driving rig. Thinking 2dof seat mover. Would like something a bit beefier that wiper motors. All opinions welcome. I only drive in vr with reverb g2 so probably no motion cancellation. So i dont want too much motion.

A 2DOF with decent DC motors, or these days even servo powered actuators, is a great starting place, it adds a lot of bang for your buck, but can also be a slippery slope to more complex, hence increasingly expensive upgrades.

Cheers Noorbeast. can you point me towards an example of suitable servo motors and an example of what you think is a good design / build would be great. yea this could get real expensive real quick.

You can build or commercially buy AASD15A servo powered actuators, with their being a number of controllers now that pretty much make them plug and play, though they are still more expensive than basic DC powered rigs: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/motor-drivers.11/category

Design wise there are lots of possibilities, and tradeoffs between design/cost Vs physics. The simplest design with the greatest inherent design leverage is a shoulder mount 2DOF, closely followed by a foot mount, but knee mount and even compact designs can work.

Interesting build Anthony, you are very resourceful. You mentioned vr at the end of your post. Are you using motion compensation or do you find it is not required with your rig?

To be honest, I did all installations and setup quickly in a couple of hours yesterday after work.
I didn't know exactly what I was doing. Just wingin'it hoping for the best while troubleshooting some problems
But the output was satisfying and will continue to tweak it.
