Hi sim racers. I am going to add 3DOF motion to my cockpit and am not sure what to do about the triple monitor setup. At the moment it's in an almost ideal position with the bottom edge of the centre monitor just above the top of the cockpit. If I add motion and want to keep the monitors static then I will need to raise them by 4" to allow for the movement up and down.

An alternative is to fix the monitor stand to the base of the moving platform, so that they move with the cockpit. This way I can keep the position of the monitors i.e. just above the top of the cockpit. I've upgraded to 27" monitors which are lighter than the previous 24" units, which will help, plus I can replace the heavy steel triple monitor stand with one made from lighter Aluminium slotted profile.

Can any sim racers that have tried both static and moving monitors give their opinion on the two options please.

    Thanks

The summary by @BlazinH pretty well covers it. But I think one other factor is the range of motion. My sim rolls 20 degrees either way (40 degrees total) which would not work well unless the monitors also move. That is mostly for flight sim, so if you have the much shorter range of motion normal in a dedicated race sim with a big triple screen setup, I would probably try to avoid moving them.
