Is there a way to make a base and a platform for 3dof and convert it to 6dof in case I feel upgrading it? I have no experience with carpentry or welding so I want to reuse the base and platform for upgrade.

Honestly I consider the best way to get the most out of a 3DOF rig is to design for it and if you want to upgrade to 6DOF pull it apart and re-use the motors, control boards and PSUs, much as @SilentChill did when upgrading from his big movement traction loss rig to his current 6DOF sim.

The main thing to consider would be getting suitable motors in the first place that suit either a 3DOF or 6DOF rig.

I'm willing to invest on motors for my 3dof that will work on 6dof design. What I have in mind for the design is to have a 3dof base+platform where there would be space for an additional 3 motors so I don't have to disassemble the project.

It is totally up to you what you build but a 3DOF is not just a 6DOF with three less motors, and visa versa.

In my view for optimal performance a 3DOF or 6DOF rig really needs to be designed for their intended use.

I'm just concern with the steel frame as I have no carpentry or welding experience. I just want it to be reusable for 6dof design in case I need to change. I saw some 3dof design that has triangular upper frame and so are some 6dof design. I will try to draw the design for your guys opinion.
