Hey everyone, just wanted to introduce myself here. I just recently got into sim racing a few months back and threw together a stationary rig with scrap wood I had lying around. I mostly play DiRT: Rally and a few other racing sims, but I'm interested in flight and space sims as well. The projects I've seen of members on here are truly inspiring and I have no doubt before long I'll have my own rig to show off, though I'm sure I'll need a bit of help along the way.

That's what I'm counting on. I've already picked up some great ideas from checking out other's builds, yours included.
I'm going to start designing a new frame for a 2-axis + yaw/traction loss since I already have most of the parts lying around from other robot builds.

hi everyone I am a new member here , I have several projects with the motion simulator but I do not know how to choose the type of motor motion for my simulator . simulator I have 2 dof specifications , load max 70 , if it could be that the motor is cheap .... thank you .

    Welcome @blueblood.

By all means post in your native language but please also include a Google Translation, as it help other members work out if you need assistance.

Do a search for existing wiper motor powered simulators in the member build section. The one by @-kevin- is a good example of what can be done with cheap wiper motors: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/monster-sim-carbon-loock-by-kevin.5951/

I and likely other members would enjoy hearing about your original and current motion simulator projects.

Arduino code is available in the FAQs: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/arduino.6/category

And there is plenty of options in setting up MMs, but do check the thread on reliable suppliers: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/motor-driver-for-arduino-compatible-controller.11/category

    Good luck with your project.

Hello. I just go to my Playseat simtools on my homemade. It is a 2DOF with Arduino UNO and MOTOMONSTER SHIELD. My simulator allows me to train myself in preparation for my races on real circuits. Simtool's a great system. Simple and efficient.

Have a look at existing member builds @Larux, that may help you refine your own project ideas: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

You will find the FAQ section covers many detailed build related topics, in particular check out the Building Resources, Arduino and Monster Motor section: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

We have a glossary for all those pesky acronyms we tend to use, which will help you decipher some descriptions: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/glossary-of-acronyms-and-names.66/

Just thought I'd sign in. Names Paul living in Hobart Tasmania. How did I get here? Been resisting building a motorised motion Simulator since shortly after I got my DK2 last year just seemed too difficult having no experience in electronics. However after discovering that I thoroughly enjoyed playing Assetto Corsa in the rift, I went off chasing experiences... first getting a G27 wheel, which added to the experience then making a bass shaker to add to the chair. Made a world of difference. Next came a motionless rig which I knocked together from a rowing machine and a walking frame, obtained from the local recycling centre which worked very well, the bass shaker giving a feeling of some sort of motion. After playing with that for a week or two began to think I wanted more. Having learnt that you really don't need a lot of motion to fool your brain in VR I made a simple rocking platform to put the static rig on. 1 DoF (I still read that as "depth of field" first, obviously haven't spent enough time on ths forum:) ) but it was transformative, Worked surprisingly well and if I could have come up with a way of adding pitch I would have stayed with that and so, hence getting to this forum and in particular Racingmats 2 DoF simulator. Thought that looked doable even for me , I now have a motion sim standing next to me, sort of working but needs adjusting in speed etc. Being a noob just got to get my head around the axis assignments thing.
Ok I'm off to read 250 threads to earn enough coins to get some plugins :)
    Paul

    Welcome @jangomoose.

I too am from Tassie, on the north east coast, with motion and VR being my passion as well.

When you are ready please start your own project thread here and share some more details and photos of your sim, I and other members would be most interested: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

With settings it pays to post a video showing the sim and the screen, plus screenshots of all your settings. That way members can advise on refining your motion profiles. You can use OBS to do muti-window videos: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/free-multi-source-video-recording.152/
