A first step from an important developer. Holidays getting closer and haven't seen much of these news, I don't know what to expect... I'd like to throw my money at them...

It is already known that only a small number of Vives will be released this year, so the enthusiast pre-order stampede is going to leave a lot of us disappointed.

You may be lucky and have Santa deliver a nice shiny new Vive for Christmas, but I wouldn't count on it!

Here is some further information as to how Elite Dangerous devs see VR and the likely development path: http://vrfocus.com/archives/22140/f...ngerous-steamvr-support-oculus-progress-more/

I consider these are the key comments:

"After trying SteamVR at GDC this year we very quickly moved to support it. SteamVR offers a great, high definition VR experience that we all thought would fit Elite: Dangerous perfectly, and Valve has been incredibly supportive during development."
    and...
"Right now Elite: Dangerous supports Oculus Rift SDK 0.5, and we’re looking forward to working with the consumer headset and release SDK. We’ll have more to say about Rift then."

So Elite Dangerous seems to be right on board with the open Valve approach and is taking a more wait and see approach to the Rift.
