    I have some freelance work on at the minute and i've had a couple of interviews. Nothing much that really interested me though. If I had a job I'd never get my projects finished. Luckily I saved lots of money from my last job. :)

    Ah, my old thread. I really need to get back on this. I got sidetracked slightly. My welder broke which was a big set back but I have it fixed and hope to finish the first part of the frame next week.

    I have my power supplies and I need to suss out the wire connections on the back of those. I'm a little bit confused by how thick the wires need to be and a couple of the wires I wasn't sure about. I'm sure I'll suss it out with some help on here.

    I got them because they were cheap and lots of other people were using them.
    Is it ok to use the small jumper size connectors from pc components like old cd audio cables from sound cards? They're small flat 4 pin connectors and fit perfect.

    For the power connection to the JRK I used this cable. (The UK equiv in gauge I think is 12AWG.)

    It's 25AMP Car DC cable. However the 25AMP is a guide, over the short runs we use on Sims, 25AMP cable is more than adequate.
    (Less than 30CM and you are looking at 180AMPS!)

    However, getting this cable into the JRK is a pain, so the for the JRK side I used a 240V 10A connector block and wired some solid copper mains cables into the connector block which fits snug into the JRK riser terminal.

    For the connections to short out PS KILL from the pins on the PSU, I used Arduino/ Breadboard connection cables which have a female and male end making testing real easy. Tiny milli amps / small volts over these so you can use any wire here really.

    Very useful info @Archie. Thanks for that.

    Another small question I have is how people have attached the JRKs to their mountings. I'd love to have a nice professional looking finish and I've seen some great builds on here. I'm looking at motherboard standoffs and trying to decide what way is best to screw them down to hold them nice and steady in the rig. What's everyone's options on brass standoffs screwed into metal vs the plastic ones which click into place through the holes?

    I personally use little plastic posts and glue them in place and for screws, I have a bunch of small hardware from my Rc stuff i can use as seen here.

    I got some of the brass standoffs today. I think I might use a piece of aluminium plate to mount the boards and powers supplies so they should screw into the metal pretty well. Another step forward. Fingers crossed I can keep the ball rolling on this.

    Things have been progressing slowly. I've had a lot of other projects taking up my time but I'll be back working on the frame next week. Bear in mind the main focus will be to get a driving sim up and running first before I try to get the bike frame and controls mounted.

    any idea how you would manage a bike frame off a pivot? I was thinking of something similar at some stage but figured leaning into corners would unbalance the whole rig and make it near impossible

    Yes I know what you mean. I'll need to look at ways of lowering the center of gravity and possibly put the pivot point slightly higher in the bike frame. It's one of those things that it'll sort out when I get that far. I need to get a basic driving sim built first.

    Right. Here we go again. Bit of a slow build this one. But here's a small bit of progress. I got the mounts for the seat done yesterday. This will get a couple more bars across and a couple of fillets for strength but it's taking some shape now. Next up will be mounting the seat properly and getting the pivot point below the seat dialled in. I'll be cutting the frame for the steering wheel and pedals too.

    Thanks. I'm more of a grinder than a welder though. My welder is a little fussy as well so it doesn't help.

    I hope to have more of the frame welded this week and I need to make some more plans about the bottom section of the frame and the mounts for the traction loss part too.
