    I've found these gears on EBay, as you can see it's 15t and 83t,shouldn't that be perfect for a 3 turn potentiometer?There's also some slipper clutch I thought I could use to protect the pot's from over turn?

    continuous single turn pot 360 deg, never breaks from overshoot.
    I used to use the gear method myself with 3 turn pots, until I moved to 360 deg pots.
    No need to use gears, connect the pot on the back of the motor shaft.

    I could not notice a difference even in fine motion.
    Reason I changed is that it costs me $26 for 360 deg pot as opposed to $8 for gears and $35 for 3 turn pot, which could still break if it overshoots far enough.360 deg pot made sense for cost. Performance, negligible.
