    Hi all.
This is my 1st sim project .
I have a limited budget (600$), because it is my thesis. But I'm optimistic :)
    I will be using 2 wiper motors, Velleman K8055, Sabertooth 2x12A, stabilized power supply 12v 500W 30-40A.

    1st 3d renders.

BSFT suggest me other motor connection: 17240

What are the advantages of this solution ? Longer arm = bigger torque ?
Motor connection is "opened topic" i need all idea. I study electrotechnics, no mechanics ;)

BSFT thx for fast replay. You post is very helpful.

As said in the other thread....
    2zrjo10.jpg
its overcoming gravity and helping balance and improving motion overall. best get it right instead of battling with incorrect design.
If you set them low, especially with wipers, you will struggle with the small motors, in fact, any motors.
Best thing is make an extra bit of frame so the motor lever arm connects higher up like near your belly button level or even a bit higher.
This was you are up near your centre of gravity and you are helping to overcome the effects of mounting the motors lower.
It s similar principle as to why shoulder mount actuators/motors are best. They are up above the centre of gravity and take advantage of moving less mass higher up.
After goodness knows how many frame builds, a mod like this will greatly help the motors and help improve the motion as opposed to having them mounted low.
Heres the thread for the K8055 setup http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/first-beta-test-for-a-k8055-interface-simtools.5567/
    Dave.

I removed seat in my car. :p
    [IMG] [IMG]
This is "Bimarco C" old type. Bimarco is polish company, bimarco has models with FIA homologation, but this is cheapest models without homologation.
This seat is really comfortable with nice price. New model cost 100-120 euro.

    First shopping:

    Velleman K8055

It was soldered few days ago.
Instruction is realy good, if you can solder, you can make this in 30-60 minutes.
    Costed 30 euro

    Logitech GT

    [IMG] [IMG]

I bought second hand equipment, they costed only 75 euros.
This is really cool stuff ! I never had PC steering wheel early. I can't stop play :p

My friend gave me old drive shaft from his land rover. I must prepare this part. (waiting for me cut and welding). In next week i would like make wooden platforms for my simulator. I would like use
    plywood 16-18mm, but I don't know if it's a good idea.

    Costs for today:
    Velleman- 30 euros
    Sterring wheels 75 euros
    Seat +/- 100 euro

    Update 27.03.2015

    Hi.

A few days ago I bought sabertooth and plywood (18mm).
Today my colleague give my old PSU (350W) i would like use 5v line for k8055 and 12v for coling fans.
I have two linear potentiometers, and all wires for sim.
In waiting for power suply 33[A].
I must buy only steel plate, motors and fans.

I would advise a cheap relay to kill power to the sabertooth if power(usb) connection is lost on the K8055.
I use a cheap relay board from DXtreame and the code uses a digital pin to engage the relay so if the pin goes low like power has been removed from the K8055 the relay trips and cuts the main power to the sabertooth.

To make it clearer the sabertooth is driven via a DAC pin from the K8055 and it gets 0V flat out one way and 5V flat out the other way, and 2.5V is stop. So if the DAC suddenly drops too 0v as is if the k8055 is uplugged the motor goes nuts in one direction and doesn't stop, the relay catches this and stops the motor. Some use the relay to control the power switch on the psu, a better idea I didn't think of.

    Coming a long nicely.

    Hello @danield
Why did not you take the k8055N? that would be the type of the new K8055

I am very happy with Your and Kevin visit.

I don't know if I understood good. Because my english is not good.
You suggest me use relay for switch on/off Power suply when k8055 is not conected ?
I sugested this wiring in my build: Today i bought Power supply (33A)

Its bad ?? I ordered k8055n, but I thought this is it, but now i see "k8055n-2".
I hope he will not make problem :(.

I have problem with my test motor (power windows motor) if i set (8 Bit Pot 127) motor is stopped in this position. But he is stuck in range (127-150 Manually set Target). I use Beta SimTools K8055 Dynamic Interface V2. I noticed that motor speed in position 0 or 255 is different. In 0 was faster.

I will be grateful if you could occasionally to look into my topic.

    Thanks for every suggestion.

Hello @danield pleasure and mine ;)

Now .. I read that you have the k8055n-2 in practice is the same as my only change the LEDs because it is the kind before mine, which has microled ... but as speed is equal to my 2ms for conversion command. Rest assured that it is the right one :)

Here, I do not know I understood .. because when I translate my Italian language, many times we understand the meaning of all the talk ..

You say that the position 0 is faster than the 255 position ??

To me it does not happen I use wiper Fiat Panda and the speed and the same in one way or another .. may be that it depends on the type of engine .. Have a look at this video:

Thats very high up. Is there any reason why that is? You are potentially going to have something unstable.

Looks like those Arm/rod end L brackets are Done for.......I Highly suggest you build thing's stronger than you were planning.....Even Wiper's have FAR more power than most give them credit for.
