One just can's simulate real car accelerations with such low gs created by our seats.
Much more useful to simulate real roll/pitch, will trick and help your brain to a better driving.
I have been saying that for ages (ok, since 2008), and you can see that Bernie finally realized that after a long time and has his 3DOF for pitch/roll/yaw and the G seat for g forces simulation!

That is exactly how the real plane sims work, right? ;-)

agreed, adding roll and pitch to the existing surge, sway and heave improves driving experience a lot more.
I have 9-10 year old kids that can verify that, and thats on my basic seat mover.

I beleive it's called Force Dynamics 401CR motion simulator. It features 4 degrees of freedom, high travel magnitude and high angular velocities (and accelerations to match). Instead of servos it uses hydraulically powered presses and that ensures maximum power. It can give even a big person a wild ride.

The rig in OP video doesn't moves realistically because...

it's on SUNDAY LEASURE RIDE settings! :D

I've ride that rig. And it has three settings: aforementioned sunday leasure ride as seen on op video, called "soft" in the motion sim controller program, "medium" and realistic mode called "hard". In realistic mode in addition to simulating forces via tilt it gives very strong jolts on every bump, shifting gears on a formula car feels like a punch to the guts (well okay it's not all that hard but it's rather strong). The setting defaults to "soft" and you have to specifically set it to "hard" in order to experience all of its power. Here's a different video of 401 in action:

(that guy drives like a wuss)

I've tested it, didn't like. That could fit a boat sim, but not racing) Movements are too smooth.

Depends on what car you are trying to simulate - Eg a Go-kart with no actual suspension, or a modern racing car with suspension which is more pliable them most would realize.

I have full race suspension on my 'street' car which often sees the track and have been fortunate enough to have driven a few different types of racing cars including rally and the years of needing a kidney belt are long gone. Just watch a modern race car suspension adsorb the bumps/curbs - they are faster around a track for it. But its your simulator, so - your choice.

And have you tried it too? What level of immersion did it bring to you? \\PS It's not mine, I just tried it as an attraction, so maybe the problem was with profile settings.

Really nothing like this to try in OZ, although I have tried a sim worth quite a few million dollars (Aircraft though). Just mainly going on what I have felt in my own sim (I actually toned mine down to what it was capable of - especially after connecting the Oculus Rift). The video @bsft put up looks pretty realistic to me. Really just trying to point out that it does not have to destroy your back to be realistic.

Having managed a few Defence Projects I know how quickly it adds up:eek: - purchasing the item is just one of the costs involved. Eg. Buildings, training, spares, maintenance, documentation, obsolescence.
    Maybe..:). Where's the lotto ticket...:D
