It would be great to see your hands moving in cockpit, however I think it will be up to developers to implement this functionality.
I guess it will depend on the number of Leap Motion sold, for now I just hope more game support DK2 (and motion platforms) little bit better.

I am guessing mapping gestures to actions would be trivial, say to pick up a weapon or activate a control, but yes having characters follow movements is in the hands of developers.

To me the real advantage is being able to use a sim with the rift in a manner that allows you to also 'see' the real world environment as needed, in a cost effective manner.

New Prototype out from Oculus - not for sale, but looks to be a good stepping stone to CV1

There will certainly be a frantic development pace in VR HUDs and peripherals leading up to the first gen consumer products.

I expect DIY motion simulation may well will be part of that, along with more reasonably priced consumer rigs.

If it's not for sale, than I would say that this is CV1 prototype.
    Possible release ? November 2014 I hope.

It is speculative but the rumored CV1 beta release is April 2015...fingers crossed.

    That is great news @AceOfSpies!

When your DK2 arrives do make sure you try Prepar3D v2.4 with DCOC V2, DCS and Need for Speed. They are all excellent examples of current VR capabilities. The consumer release next year will be even better.

Academic license is fine and reasonably priced. Quality addons are very pricey but I have indulged myself on them as well. Pity it only supports tacpak with commercial license, I think that is a real mistake.

I would also like to see a specific sub forum for VR...there are enough active topics and current member who already own a Rift. That trend will only grow over time as there is a natural affinity with the immersive factors that the Rift and Motion Simulation both offer.
