    Hello to you all,

So i build a wooden kind of seat mover and was playing arround with the boys until it broke :-(
Then i decided to build a steel frame, but didn't know how to weld.
So with a lot of try and error i finaly got the hang to it :)
With all the samples provided on this forum i managed to make something like this,
    IMG_0362_resize.JPG
(like the retro seat ;-) )

    WP_20140318_003_resize.jpg
    CIMG0495_resize.JPG
Theo motors i have are the well known wiper motors and some heavy duty 24V DC motors with gearboxes
    IMG_0356_resize.JPG

i've got some heavy duty server powersupply's and choice of using the AMC1.5 with H-bridge or some Arduino's with 4oAmps h-bridge controlers to play with.
But first things first, lets build the rig and than play with the electronics ;-)

looks good, the 24v would be the better option if you can use them. Look up an arduino and suitable hbridges. Arduino especially as there are working codes for it and its a better board than the AMC.

Love the seat, is that from a bus ?
Just a note on your construction , not to make the sim too top heavy, need to move the uni closer to the bottom of the underside of the chair, the greater you make this distance the harder the motor will have to work, I keep mine to 100mm from base of chair to centre of uni, in all looking good.

    Thanks guys for the reply.

The chair is a old fishingchair (on front of the boat) :) kind of retro look!
i've got my platform balanced now with al the additional hardware on it and me sitting in the chair:grin.
aeorobbie: what do you mean by "uni" the coupling? i can move it to the undersite of the chair and weld it on the frame, it makes the platform less high.

In the mean time i also got some other electronics like a TM1638 board (for the dash:thumbs) and build a MJOY16 board

Riped some parts from my Segway project :grin like the IBT-2 H-Bridge and Arduino Nano, setup a test using smc3 sketch (mode2)
and it works on the bench.

Found some heavy server powersupply's at work en hacked them, the compaq (smal/long one) can deliver 43 amps at 12V and the other HP one can deliver 25 Amp at 12V.

Got the Arduino Nano with SMC firmware connected to two IBT-2 H-bridges on the bench and its working fine.
Also tested it with some heavy wipermotors and it also worked fine.
Arduino nano SMC and IBT_2 .jpg

I have a small problem, i can't get it to work with SMC3Utils.
It's complaining about Comm is unreliable, error getting Timer1 and 2
I did program the Arduino on this commport, used a other computer and a other Arduino (Mini pro) but no luck :-(

Ok it's now working with SMC3Utils, got the wrong firmware (sketch) for the Arduino :(
Now i got the right one with serial (500000) 500Kbaud and its working like a charm :grin
(in the mean time i blew up my mosfet h-bridge and repaired it):thumbs

Yeh Cool retro seat (fits right in the ambiance of racing an old Lotus cortina in GTR) :)

Going from arduino nano to Mini Pro and made a veroboard to make it nice and tidy, works great now.
Next thing is building it in a box with a fan for cooling the IBT2's

Made a simple solution to connect the pot to the axle of the motor by using a piece of rubber hose (oil) with 2 clamps.
    Its flexible and works fine.

Bought a verry cheap tm1638 based board on e-bay (€2) and connected it to a cheap arduino mini pro clone, works fine with rFactor.

The lever on the motorshafts keeps coming loose, there is a small gap in the axle.
So i welded a piece of metal on it, now it can't move or get loose any more (problem solved)

I build all the electronics in a nice box, this was from a old PSU i had laying around.
Striped out the electronics and put in the two IBT-2 H-bridges and Arduino Mini Pro clone :)
Wiring is not completed yet, but that will come in time.

I'm building a temp. controlled fan controller to keep the h-bridge from overheating (and reduce noise)

so, made a simple temperature controlled fan controller, getting rid of that annoying sound :)
    only 3 component (out of the junkbox) a 10K pot (multiturn), 4.7K NTC and a N-fet (IRFZ46).
    Works really good to.

@dedas could we have some more details on the temp controller you have added, this could be a nice upgrade for anyones sim.
Yes the trick in keeping nice motion for hours of play, cooling the drivers. I have 2x 120mm fans on my jrks , longest run was 6 hours on Iracing, the sim was fine but I was that exhausted I need a hand to get out of my sim. lol anyone would have thought I had driven a real car for 6 hours straight.
