    What’s up Everybody, :hi:

Because this tool goes with the hardware in this section I’m posting it here, I really didn't know where else to put it - lol

Say hello to KP Settings Tool - No more HyperTerminal Problems for anyone! (I hope - lol)

In an effort to help the community a little more, I have put together a little application for changing the KP values of an AMC Sim Controller. It’s very simple and strait forward.

Updated to v1.1 - All how to pic's now included - and a few bugs fixed :hi:
Just follow along with the application. (It’s ~EZ~)

    A little about the KP Values;
-The higher you set the values, the faster your sim will try to reach its destination. With that said, turned up to high and it will not be able to halt at the right position and cause the motor to jump back and forth past where it’s suppose to stop.

-the lower you set the values the slower the sim will try to reach it destination.
With that said, a KP value that too low will always be able to stop in the right position.

So in conclusion, it just takes a little while to find what works best for your simulator!
(No Installation is Needed, just Unzip and Use!)

I want to give a special thanks to TronicGR, again it seems you thought of everything!

    Any feedback would be appreciated!

You simply set your switches on the AMC to 1=off 2=on 3=off 4=off.
Hope that helps - Sorry for the fuzzy picture - I highlighted the switch positions with white dots too – lol – (down up down down) – (off on off off)

@SirNoName – because we already talked this over in email, regarding how you wanted it to work, I decided to write a HyperTerminal Replacement to learn how it works precisely. For me to answer any of your questions, I needed to build an app and simply see what I could do.

What this app does for the average user:
This makes setting the KP values much easier. It does not take “Another Program” as it’s just a replacement for HyperTerminal. And it steps the user thru the process, how easy is that. I agree thou that I need to add a pic of the dip switch settings.

What this app does for us:
I now know how the HyperTerminal access works to the AMC. I have learned how to get and send data from the AMC and save the settings when I’m done. I also have a basic app that works and may help us construct what you are looking for.

Adding a KP value setting app in X-SIM would be easy now, I’m still researching the rest.

A little on what I have found:
-HyperTerminal settings are only available with HyperTerminal switches are properly set.
-Yes the KP values are in the EPROM but you can only get to them with the HyperTerminal switches set on the AMC.
-All data to and from the AMC is in plain English.

Auto detection by the text that is written to the HyperTerminal on startup would only work with the switches set properly on the AMC. So if your program needed to auto detect the AMC on startup every time, you would have to switch the setting on the AMC to HyperTerminal mode every time you startup. And then switch back to “run” mode.

Because of all the questions I now can answer for you, and the fact that it is much easier to use than HyperTerminal for the average user, I don’t see how you can consider my app Not helpful? :(

I will send you the source files if you should want them?

Btw – I’m having internet connection issues that should be fixed tomorrow (I Hope), and I will return all email that I have received as soon as I am able!

    Thanks Guys!
