    Hello,

I would like to show you a simulator we are developing here in Brazil... It doesn't have a name yet (we are accepting suggestions), we are calling it Motion FX beta (FX - full axis) ... As you can see, it has a nice feature of no angle limitation, that is still unexplored, but soon it will be fully functional... Hope you like it.

It's not exactly a diy, considering that for building it you need to have some industrial equipment, but I think you may be interested in the project.

This is the second sim we built, the first one was a Fullmotion (thanks again Thanos!).

    Hi ,
    Very interesting project,
Are you using Bonglioli MVF or VF gearboxes with a servo motor?
What kind of plc and software are you using
    regards Henk

    Great job on the frame!

I would be interested in how you control the position for the continuous rotation?

What type of motors and electronics are you using?

Yes, it's a Bonfiglioli gearbox, I know the model isn't for that purpose, but it's working for now... If it breaks we will use a Type A!

We are not using a PLC, we are using a msp430 Microcontroler and of course, X-sim (=

    Thanks for commenting.

Well, we don't control the position for the continuos rotation yet. I have some ideas on my mind, mixing two outputs from the force profiler, but we aren't in that stage yet...

The motors are servo motors (1,5kw @ 2500 RPM !), with a gear reduction of about 90:1. The electronics are the servo drivers (they do all the hard work) and a msp430 microcontroller.

    Thx!

    Thanks!

Are those AC or DC servo motors? 1.5kW must be really strong!
Can you point us to those servo drivers?

Also, they must be using encoders for positioning? Or a continuous rotation potentiometer?

It will be interesting how you can solve the positioning for infinite rotation.

Keep us posted about the challenges and your progress!

This are AC motors, 220V... I bought from here: http://hzmgdj.en.alibaba.com/

It uses a encoder for positioning... It's very easy to use (=

Muito bacana o projeto, vcs estão de parabéns! :)

However, I still think this kind of motion simulation better fits a flight sim, not racing... ;-)

    Cheers,

    Valeu MasterYoda!

I totally agree with you, this sim it's best suited for flight simulation... we just used first with car sim because we already had some experience... soon we will make a video using it for flight simulation... maybe using all the capabilities of the beast.

    Hello,

First I must congratulate you on brilliance project.

My frend and me was also tray to make a similar simulator, but
we was give up , because were not find a solutions
for a put wire inside tube and give power and signal to monitor, controller
    etc.

so, I am nterested in how did you make solution for that?
I see that you have some withe wire on main girder,or you use some
    strong battery under simulator seat?

Also you said that you buy AC motors on link below
Please, can you send me a direct link which motor is that?
    Regards

    Wow great project!
Someone asked how to pass wires through the frame earlier, I believe no one answered that.
Simple its called a SLIP RING this allows single or multiple wires signals to rotate 360 with out twisting the wires.
Be aware the one you need has to be rated for that Purpose, like power rating and amps!

A more sophisticated solution would be wire free! (Wi-fi)
many little boards that accept serial and communicate via radio.
but needs to be more elaborated.

    hope this helped!

Congrats on all the success this project has brought you and your Colleagues. I have read many Articles about your Project and its awesome to see how well the community has responded.

Here we also strive to help and collaborate with each other to bring another Sim ALIVE!

this is exactly the project I am wanting to build! full motion is my goal!

I am however far behind you. building the pvc joyrider atm to get an idea of how to do it.

I will watch very closely at your project and see if I can catch up to you in development :)

    welcome to the Forum!

We are both in the same path, I too like to build this sim!
I have been trying to reach the original designer and no response.
following the forum and the links I was able to gather data on the motors and drivers but no luck on frame.

As for the X-sim software, yes it can gather all data desired to make this monster move!!!

For the frame, I don't think PVC its an Option. 2 axis 360 motion and constant change of Center of gravity, might not be strong enough.
Hallow metal tubing would be desirable.
I have not found a detailed sketch of frame, IF SOMEONE HAS PLEASE SHARE!!!!!!! :hi:

Hope to hear from you soon!
    Good luck!

Yeah this is the kind of thing I am going after as well. Any information about the specifics of the original would be extremely useful.
I have a general idea of the frame from the videos but still trying to figure out how he set up the motors to get that kind of motion and power.
I have a pretty good general idea of how to put this together but specifics is where I need help.
