    Hi there,

i followed this awesome Forum for a while and decided to build a nice Simulator for our
local Alfa Romeo Club here in Austria, we are going to have a 20 Years Aniversary soon so therefore we could need some fun at the party.

A few things about myself (and some skills i might be able to donate):
    I am 28 now, working as a Freelance Software Developer (C, C++, Objective C ...)
and have a lot of experience in embedded Software Development (ARM7/9, AVR) and some electronic skills as well.

The hardware is build in small steps (mainly on weekdays form 18:00 to 24:00) in my Cousins Company.

In two of these session we were able to build the following (which is lacking a motion base, the wipers and some paint):
    xim-plat2.jpg
    xsim-plat1.jpg
    xsim-speedo.jpg

    Cousin having a welders-coffee:

Hopefully we will be able to move it with Wiper Motors (maybe some Truck motors?).
I will start with Thanos Controller but will eventually do my own one because i like SMD a lot more and want to integrate efficent Motor Drivers
instead of using a whole bunch of heating FETs :)

Otherwise we would have to choose the pneumatic route (which i would like to avoid).

First thing i built before welding:

(based on some code i have written for an ATMEGA328 and a tiny vs2008 executable which will read the data from xsim shm and send it out over the serial)

Looking forward for a good time with you guys and hopefully i can contribute something back,
    Stephan

    Welcome Stephan,

You have a great starting point! Truck motors would be stronger, you just have to play. I agree to avoid the pneumatic route, it is not worth the trouble.

If you already have a lot of experience with embedded ARM and AVR's, you should just cut to the chase...
