Every software that connects to the iRacing API uses iWrap except for EK. We have built support for the EK proxy.

I'm told that EK has now changed his licensing agreement to say that it cannot be used with any proxy except his and has released yet another technically incorrect proxy along with an interesting attempt at an X-Sim plugin that also does not work properly.

It does not make sense for us to continue to try to help SLI owners when this guy constantly and knowingly undermines our efforts.

All of the companies and other individsuals who connect to the iRacing API are meeting to discuss the EK problem. I will advise you of our progress.

For now, iWrap 1.0.0.2 has been released to support the Q4 iRacing changes. It is currently recommended that you do not upgrade to EK's latest iRPS or software. The existing version works fine with iWrap and everything else in the industry.

I would really like to know the reasoning behind.

Leo could find many other software developers, or even make the communication protocol open source for other apps like X-Sim.

I think they do this just because they can, no competition to steal sales...

    Great news! Thank You!

Anyone can send me an earlier SliPro Manager setup ? :D I deleted it, I mean v0.94d18c.
And the same version of slipro-iracing-irps-plugin.

    Thank You!

Why disappear the iWrap topic on EK forum ?

    Regards

    Poi

EK has deleted all posts about iWrap and continues to refuse to join the rest of us. It is now against his forum rules to discuss iWrap there!

The original claim was that he didn't have time so we built support for his proxy into iWrap. The new claim is that I offfended him. I have offered him a sincere apology because it was never my intent to offend anyone! Hopefully he will reconsider.

I don't have the previous version SLI software. I cannot use an SLI for obvious reasons.

Here is the post that he deleted:

I think his signature gives away the highest level of professionalism....

The software is eating his time away, yet he refuses to accept help from other developers who try to make it easy for him... and gets offended?

    I mean, WTF?

He is probably pissed because Leo doesn't cut him enough and donations are not enough to make it worth it. He then decides to make it hard for everyone, begging for support so they all donate? I cannot come up with any better explanation to this.

I posted this earlier in this thread.

These instructions will get you up and running using iWrap with X-Sim, SLI-Pro/M, iSpeed, Motec and any other plugin that supports iWrap or IRPS:

Once you install iWrap, it will run each time you start your PC so there is no other configuration needed for iWrap itself.

Next you will need the IRPS plugin for the SLI Manager which you can get from EK Simracing's website. The plugin will allow the SLI Manager to get information from a proxy (iSpeed in this case) instead of directly from iRacing.

Download the SLI Manager and IRPS plugin from eksimracing.com. You do not need the IRPS proxy as iSpeed has the IRPS proxy code built in. All you will need is the IRPS plugin so the the SLI Manager will get information from the proxy (iSpeed in this case).

    Do the following:

    1)Install the SLI Manager

    2) After downloading iRacingIRPSplugin.dll
    - open the plugins directory of SLIPro Manager
    - Backup the normal iRacingPlugin.dll and replace it with the new iRacingIRPSplugin.dll

After you have updated the plugin for the SLI Manager:

Download the latest version of iSpeed

You can enable EK Proxy Compatibility mode by adding this section to your (My Documents)\iRacing\Telmetry\Telemetry.ini file:
    [TelemetryShare]
    MMFName=IRPS06

Once you do that (and close/restart iSpeed), iSpeed will be the EK Proxy, and you should be able to run your gauges without using the EK Proxy.

ISpeed will need to be run all the time so that it can send the information to the SLI Manager.

You can also install the MU telemetry software and this will gather telemetry information that can be read by the free Motec i2 Pro software. Any other softare that has a plugin that supports iWrap can also be installed and should work without any or minimal configuration.

Oh, okay, i believed it in the new version something changed.

You know, exactly which version working with ispeed?
Because the newest is not. :(
And i deleted the old SLIPro, and the old iRPS SLiPro plugin.
In EK site, i found only the newest.

    I'ts working fine now :D

    iRacing+X-sim+iSpeed+SLIPro

Two more things are needed for the perfectness. A new version from Symproject, iwrap compatible.
    And MotionCockpitView iwrap plugin.
I know, let me not be greedy.

Interesting, MotionCockpitView is try to connect to an iRPS proxy, but not work with iSpeed iRPS.

Has anyone asked Stephane to develop MotionCockpitView for iWrap? If he sees the differences between iWrap and iRPS, he will surely choose iWrap because it is stable and because of the auto-fallback capability.

iRPS has had many versions, none of which were compatible with the previous causing developers alot of headaches and there are still bugs in iRPS as well.

Please point him to www.sourceforge.net/iwrap or to me if he doesn't have an SVN client to get the source from the website.

I doesn’t know this proxy but it’s interesting and I see that iSpeed also support this tool.
So I will take a look to make a compatible version with iWrap proxy

A new version appeared since then, but it i don't read any iWrap hint.

    Final release (v1.0) November 5, 2010

    - use telemetry at 360Hz for smooth movements
    - iRPS is not used now (iWrap compatibility will come with next release)
    - restore config by car (this option was removed from v0.12)
    - fix some stability issues

iRPS is not used now :D

Yes but MCV v1.4 is available 8)

iRPS is not a very good proxy from a developer point of view...
iWrap is excellent, take 10min to update the code to make it compatible but take more time to found how to link :?
The solution: I put iWrapClient.dll in iRacing directory :D

    Very good job bvillersjr

Thanks for the feedback iRacingSteph. I cannot take credit for iWrap. It was a team effort. Pete Ness, the creator of iSpeed, and Patrick, the creator of Mu Motec Exporter deserve credit.

Thanks for building an iWrap compatible version of your software. This has helped many people to be able to enjoy your enhancement with their motion simulators!

    How is the result ?

I'm interested for feedback about this usage ;)
