    Hi All,
I am gradually gearing up to start my own build. I am absolutely blown away by the good work and the amount of experience shared on this forum.
I am particularly inspired by Knaufinator's and Peacemaker105's rigs.
Two concepts and both seem to work great!
I need to decide which way to go considering that I am only really intersted in driving sims and not so much in flight sims.

Can the community please advise on what to chose considering the below factors?

    1. cost
    2. build difficulty
    3. ongoing maintenance
    4. longetivity of components
    5. size of the complete build
    6. Upgrade friendliness (extra bits like belt tensioners etc)
    7. Configuration and software support

    I would appreciate your input.
    Thank you.

Never seen this before interesting project. Didn’t really find any details on the mechanical hardware aka 50:1 planetary gears. He did say it was $5000. I have never seen a planetary gears that can handle the required torque cheap.

Since you are new to this I would suggest starting with something a little less ambitious. For much less money you could put together a two axis rocker (weight rests on ujoint) or three axis rig. You could build just two of his actuators and get a better feeling for how much money, time and effort you want to invest. The only thing you waste here is the ujoint.

You could answer questions like does it make you sick? Is it too laggy to be any fun? Do I enjoy working on this? For me it’s no, sometimes yes. You can buy a controller from Thanos which would save a ton of time and is made for this.

    They are both great sims

Gearmotors are cheaper and faster imo

Build the one you like the best

I went for Knaufinators build, as I couldn't bear to listen to the racket the ball screws make.
My base is done, just working of the bit above the platform now....

I'm leaning towards the same and for the same reason. The range of motion isn't an issue for me.
Would you post your progress and methods so we can learn? I know I will struggle with the seat cradle ..
