    Hello evryone,
I'm after a few ideas on the best way to turn this Jabiru 55 minus the main wings into a motion rig without changing the overall look of the aircraft.
I'm going to take it to the Air force Cadets and other events for people to use and enjoy, so from the help of the community i would like any input, to help get this project up and running.

    Cheers
    Noel from Australia.

    Hi,
I’m confused by the comment “ It is important to further detail and be up front about the intended use” when I detailed the use ?

The Jabiru 55 i have bought is
    • Length: 5.04 meters (16 ft 5 in)
    • Empty Weight: Approximately 170kg without the engine
    • when i put two POB at a maximum 180kg the sim will weigh 350kg.
    • as i said in my post the Sim will be used for the Airforce Force Cadets to , Fly in's, and other charity events, this will allow people to experience motion flight without leaving the ground.
    • The budget would depend on what type of equipment is available for me to look at and mount to the aircraft without too much modification, I’m a retired Pilot and I want people to experience what it’s like to fly.

We are most likely going to do most of the work at our local Aircraft Museum the plane will be mounted to a purpose built trailer, so it is easy to take to shows.

I think you could build a simple 4dof platform, and mount the whole fuselage to it. Attach at the front and rear landing gear mounts. Remove the tail, it's weight and inertia you don't need.

There are lots of examples here of 4dof rigs built with the SFX100 actuators. I designed an adapter to attach a 110ST motor for very heavy rigs. Link in my signature.

    Hi Moe
Thank you for your great idea, that will save me a lot of time building and then re-doing it if it doesn’t work, where is your signature I’m on my I phone and it might not show it
    Regards
    Noel

    Sorry,
    https://www.xsimulator.net/communit...lt-tensioner-cockpit-build.15845/#post-230416

The cheapest way to build the platform would be welding, but if you don't have access to a welder, aluminum extrusion will work. SFX100 actuators should do the job, but you might want to beef up the motors as I did to swing all that weight. Anything you do to lighten that airframe will help. For sure cut the tail off to get rid of that inertia way back there.

Eracing Labs sells quality, prebuilt SFX100 actuator kits.

    Realsimgear sells the avionics.

I've built and own a real airplane (RV8) and I've built a few Sim rigs. Just let me know if you need any help.

    Thanks Moe
Merry Christmas to you and your family I’m a recreational pilot here in Australia.
I’m pretty good on a welder so I will take that path, I’m away at the moment but when I get home I’ll look at all the things you have suggested.
Also have a look at this Australian guy on YouTube who has build a 4DOF Sim Rig for flying and racing his handle is Dr ADHD
Just search YouTube for Dr ADHD 4 dof
    Cheers
