What could possibly go wrong :)

    2DOF, DC motor, Arduino
    Right then, ive been busy withy life again but ive made some progress eventually. I beefed up the chassis and made it longer to stop it pulling wheelies :) Ive welded on some mounts so the simrig now bolts properly to the motion rig, they have become one. I rewired stuff and made sure all the moving sections are safe and dont get flexed too tightly. I also got some faulty pedal issues that turned out to be a dodgy plug connector.

    So everything worked...ish. I could just about use it and i could feel the difference when i played with the settings like how far it moved, how fast, how strong it was. The trouble was that it would not sit still at any time. Imagine driving over a ploughed field, across all the ruts??? It was just a bumpy uncomfortable ride, even with the sim car parked up.
    I though it was backlash but no. That seems to be within normal limits. Maybe flex in the chassis... fixed so no.
    Next i turned to EMI after watching a few youtubes. I learnt abit about it and also the joys of ground loops. So i checked out my grounds and nothing seemed out of place. I was about to strip all the wiring out and start again with shielding box's etc, and even bought some (relitivley) expensive shielded cable and a load of ferrite cores.

    Now ive been trying stuff for 2 months to get the damn thing to sit still and just before i ripped it apart, i looked at the little dip switches on the MDDS 30 Cytron driver and bought up the info on them.
    Dip 5 is 0=Linear and 1= Exponential. Mine was set to 1, Exponential. I flicked it the half milimetre to 0 and just like that...... no more jumpy, bouncy, wobbly motion rig :thumbs:thumbs:thumbs:thumbs
    Without adjusting or touching anything else i did 8 laps of Mugello (coz motogp is there this weekend) and it did not miss a beat. Not one unexpected movement.
    I am sooooooo happy it works and sooooo annoyed that i didnt check the dippers sooner. Ho hum, at least i can stop pulling my hair out, lol.
    I didnt have any time to fine tune it but now it works properly im sure i'll be in it alot more.
