I'm looking to buy some motors for 3 DOF and I need to figure it out. Does anyone have any experience with dump truck tarp motors, 12V, 50:1 gear ratio? I might be wrong, but the motor might be about 600W and 40+ amps. My only concern is that 40 amps, even using an IBT-2 driver, is way overkill. Are they really 600W motors, and do they require over 40 amps? I would prefer the motor to be less power hungry and more efficient. So far, I can't find many motors with 50:1 gear ratio in USA from Ebay. Many motors, like wheelchair Jazzy motors, with an unknown gear ratio.

thats a lot of amps - however there are other types of DC motor drivers that may work

do you have a link to the Tarp motor ?

it will only use 40 amps if it is working hard

    some powerful motors there !

with that much power, you will not need a 50:1 gearbox
