    Hi all,

I am sharing a project I have been working on over the past few months. This is a home-built plywood flight sim cockpit that I designed and built during my weekends. I wanted something that looked good in my living room and be functional. The chassis is made from plywood and a few 3D printed parts !

I’ve now made the plans, 3D print files, and assembly build guides available for anyone who wants to build their own.

You can check it out here:
    https://www.flightsimbuilds.com

Here’s what you will get in the downloadable packs:
    • Full-size printable plans (PDF)
    • STL files for the 3D-printed parts
    • Step-by-step instructions and guides
    • A list of all materials and parts I used
Here are a few pictures of the build:

Please let me know your thoughts, feedback and interest about this project !

Feel free to visit my instagram I.G https://www.instagram.com/flightsimbuilds/ for videos of the cockpit in action :)

    Cheers!

Wow, this looks really beautiful!:thumbs I guess it's not meant for VR as you have something that looks like a Garmin in your dashboard. What display/screen will you use? The control stick and the throttle is 3D printed or something commercial?

    Hi Aerosmith !

Thank you very much for your kind words. I’m not using VR indeed. I have designed the avionics panels (G1000 and GNS 430) using my 3D printer, purchased encoders, buttons from internet and using MoBiFlight + Arduino 2560 micro. I’m using an 8inch LCD monitor for the G1000 and 4inch LCD for the GNS430 (monitors purchased from WaveShare).

For the flight stick, I’ve 3D printed the extension rod but the stick is from Virpil.

    The throttle quadrant from Thrustmaster.

The trim wheel , home made with 3D printer and Arduino again.

Last but not least, I have created a website for this project to be shared with the community where you can download the plans + instruction manual to built it yourself

Feel free to visit my instagram @flightsimbuilds

    Cheers !

Hello accelero ! Thanks for your comment !

I’m using 18 mm thick plywood for the wooden structure but for the cover sheets I am using 5 mm thick panels. I soaked them in hot water to help the bending process !

As mentioned in my precious post I have a website to get access to the DIY PLANS and some additional pictures on

    www.flightsimbuilds.com

    kind regards

Looks like a piece of art. I thought the pics were renderings at first.
Not to detract, but is selling the same as sharing? I guess it's a subjective term.

It is not subjective in terms of the rules for the Xsimulator community, hence this thread has been moved to the commercial thread section: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/potential-commercial-related-use-of-prototypes.173/

Yes. On the pictures, TV is in fact hidden behind the sliding vertical slat panel on the bookshelf (above the piano). :)
